I am new here, and hope I am posting this question in the correct area.
I am no AV expert by any means, and have an old Bose system to this day myself.

Here is my question:
My stepfather that was an AV nut, passed away several years ago. My mother moved to a smaller house after his passing, and I have set up a 42" LCD over there for her.
She has no interest in the surround equipment from their old setup, and gave it to me, just to get it all out of her way. I already have the Bose setup, and nowhere to store the stuff myself.
I am not trying to sell it here, just looking for info on what I have, and what you folks feel would be a fair price to sell it for locally. I will be returning the proceeds to my mother BTW.

Yamaha RX-V992 Receiver
Polk Audio PSW-250 powered sub
Polk Audio CS-245I center channel speaker
Polk Audio RT-35 set that was used for front channels
They had some ceiling mounted speakers for the rears, and they stayed with the house.

I believe all of this was fairly expensive when new, but am looking for a fair price to sell it for. It is all like new, and fully functional.
Thanks for any possible help.:)

Since you know the exact model numbers, it should be pretty easy to look up what these items sell for on eBay. Bump up the asking price a little, post it on Craigslist, and be prepared to negotiate a little.

Thanks, but I have already looked at ebay, and don't really feel it is representative, as the shipping charges are so high.

I don't use craigslist,.....know nothing about it.
We have a local auction type site that covers only my area, and that is where I was looking to place it, as it would be pick up only.

Really just looking for what some of you folks think it would be worth sold that way.

You might get $1k or so for the entire system if you're lucky. The speakers (all together) run about $1k new and the receiver ran about $1k new. The receiver does not support any of the newer sound formats or video (HDMI) inputs. It is also fairly low powered (80W/ch). In other words, the speakers will have held there value a little better than the receiver. Try selling the entire system for $1k and then drop the price down if it doesn't sell. Good luck!

BTW, learn how to use Craigslist... IMO it's the best option for local sales.

Thanks Greg,........I figured new it was close to 2K, as you stated.
I was actually thinking of a lower figure, but now I may not list it that low.

I would be satisfied if I could get 500 bucks without a lot of hassle.
Fortunately my mother is still fairly well set, and the money won't be paying for food or anything.:)

All I was really trying to get was a feel for what these components might be worth now. I will check out Craigslist I guess,.........and thanks once more for the input.
