What type of hard drive do I need to buy for my PS3? Is it easy to swap out?

LMAC, it is pretty easy to do, basically any laptop hard drive will work, just do a full backup before you swap it out. Insert new one, format it, and restore from back up... that is the general approach. You can find details in other threads...

Yeah it was a question...asked about 1000 times here covered over and over. There are some VERY good threads with all kinds of info. A simple "PS3 Hard drive upgrade" Search will answer all of his questions he asked here, and a bunch he hasnt even thought of.

Depends on what you are looking to do. If you just want it to store mp3's, pictures, and video's...yes, that would work. You cannot, however, copy/play games from an external harddrive (ie, psn version of warhawk must reside on the internal disk).

Edit: there are also a ton of youtube videos that will show you how to do it step by step as well..
