I've been looking for an answer but cant seem to find it.
Can I convert my MKV files to VOB and keep the DTS sound?
MKV2VOB converts it to AC3 and I dont want that.
Is this possible?

I don't think you can get DTS sound on the PS3. Search around these forums for more specifics because many people have talked about it but I don't remember the details

Of course you can get DTS on the PS3. It's labled on the console itself.
Just have to make sure it's enabled on your sound settings.

I don't think that the PS3 can decode DTS from a streamed (non-DVD) source.
Edit: here's a link from that neglected search feature http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1061641

Jurrasic Park burned from my DVD says otherwise. Unless my reciever is lying to me because I'm thinking about getting another one. :(
I'll check my settings again.

I wasn't talking about from a DVD, but from a ripped file as the original posting was asking about

I believe you can get the DTS sound, however, it is a complicated process to get it out with the tools that seem to exist.
You may want to check the HTPC forum to see if they have a list of tools that would work. Most of the tools are dos or linux based so they can be brutual to work with if you don't like command line stuff.

What does "burned from my DVD" mean? Do you mean "ripped from my DVD (and then streamed from a computer or external hard drive)" or "burned to my DVD"?
We are talking about streaming from a computer or external hard drive here. Of course the PS3 will play DTS from a disc and even DTS-MA from Blu-ray.

Sorry, meant copied from the DVD I owned and on a external drive.
And don't ask me how I ripped it, because my uncle took care of that.
I'l ask him what he used.
