View Full Version : G70 is rationing my movies!

Folks,

I recently acquired a minty low hour G70 which I’m currently testing to see if it’s any better than my current one. I notice an odd thing: If I set the G70’s brightness and contrast so the picture is correctly balanced when it’s cold, by the time I get to the end of a 100min movie it’s like the brightness is set waaaay too high and I get a glowing raster (which goes if I mute the picture). The glow is only the active picture area.
Got any suggestions on which boards to swap out (I have many spares). The problem surely must be heat related.

Thanks.

Wait until the tubes have warmed up before making any picture adjustments. 15-20 min with a 40-60IRE field should do. If you want to use the default white field on the G70, 5-10 min is plenty.

I think it's a fault as the difference is REALLY HUGE (equivalent to 0-100 brightness adjustment over the 100mins.) and my other G70 doesn't shift at all over the same time.

I wait a full 20 minutes if adjustments are needed. But after adjusting, I seldom have to touch it again.
