So I am going to be buying a new display this coming January. My room is 12x10x12. I have drop ceilings, and I don't mind sitting really close. My room has no natural light in it. Complete light control. Here are my three options:

option 1- Sanyo PLV-Z700. i hear they have another sanyo exactly like it with a different PN.

option 2- optoma hd80

option 3- hitachi p60x901 60" plasma

i can get all these for roughly the same price. they will be going through an onkyo sr606.

The Sanyo will give you lens shift to allow more options for mounting.

The Optoma will give a great DLP image but will require ceiling mounting because of its image offset.

The 60" Plasma - 25% of the image size the PJs will give you.

Choice is simple - in our experience.

If you want to watch a television - buy the TV - we have a nice 56in HD 1080p for watching television programming - it does a very nice job.

However, if you want Theater in the Home - the same WOW feeling you get "at the movies" when the lights go down and the BIG screen lights up - you need a projector and screen - the only folk who say you can achieve a Theater viewing experience in your home with a television are the sales weasels that sell televisions.

Choice is yours!
GoodLuck
