Hi y'all. I'm a newbie on here and must confess i only signed up to get the multiregion crack for my dv10. it worked great so heres my payback.
If anyone is having trouble playing their dv10 through an amp heres a solution.
Mine originally hummed like crazy when first hooked up to my av stack, this is caused by earth loops as the dv10 audio screen is earthed whereas the stack is not. an isolating transformer in the aodio lines cured this.
however the audio level from the dv10 3.5mm output jack is very low and required the amp to be turned up high just to get a decent volume.
Plugging into the phono input on the amp helps as it has a preamp built in but the riaa filtering on the phono side gives a very bassy sound.
If you know what you're doing with a soldering iron and never want to use a turntable you can remove the riaa filtering on the amplifiers preamp board.
Following the phono input tracks on the board leads to an op-amp ic with two resistors and two capacitors between its input and output pins, these should be unsoldered from the board and a resistor of 5k to 10k ohms soldered between input and output pins, repeat for the other channel.
the value of the resistor sets the gain of the preamp so you can try different values and find one that gives a gain that suits the dv10 output.
I hope this is of use to someone as i was tearing my hair out until i did this. i now have great sound at decent volume.
