I will soon be replacing my (1970s) family room paneling will wallboard. Since the studs will be exposed, I thought I'd run my rear speaker wires thru the walls and install binding post wall plates near each speaker and behind the receiver. The wire length will be about 30 ft. I plan to use 16 gage "architectural" speaker wire (red/black enclosed in gray sheath) from Parts Express.
Are there any "watch out fors" to be aware of?
Thanks.

Sounds like a good plan, this area would probably be better for your question though - http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=3

when you drill the studs, drill in the center of the stud. Keep the low voltage speaker as far away from the 120v AC wiring as possible. When you must cross 120v AC wiring do it at 90 degrees and with as much space between them as you can get. Running speaker wire parallel to 120v AC lines can introduce noise and static into your speakers. Make sure the wire from Parts Express is CL2 and/or CL3 rated. That is a National Electric Code rating for wire insulation that produces low amounts of toxic smoke when heated and used within enclosed walls. I would personally run 14 gauge wire, but the 16 gauge will work OK.
