I have a 12" Boston Xb6 sub that I got at C.C. a while back. It was on clearance, and Boston being a great brand, I picked it up. It works great for most things, but I've noticed a lot of bottoming out on everyday DVDs and Blu-Rays. For example, during an explosion or thunder crack, the sub will make a creaking noise, which I know is a classic symptom of bottoming. The Freq. range is 29-150, so I wouldn't think the problem is normal. I also tried a sub test tone CD, and it sounded for the most part clean from about 35 on. So why is it bottoming? And if the movies I'm watching go lower than this, why did the cheap HTIB system I had before not give me a problem?
I know this is a really newbie like question but I'm definitely not an audio expert so an help would be greatly appreciated.
As a side note, volume adjustment on the sub itslef seems to make no difference in the problem.
