Ok, after trying to figure this out, I have come to the conclusion that I am the only person on thisearth with this setup. I will try to explain it here: I have an insignia 50" plasma, I am connecting 5 HDMI components to it with a switcher (Apple TV, Xbox 360, PS3, Directv DVR, and I may connect another in the future). I also have som other things connected to the system: A wii with component cables to the tv, a pc with a dvi to hdmi going straight to the tv with stereo audio, a laptop going to the tv with vga and stereo audio. Now I have one simple desire, to add 5.1 surround sound for each of the HDMI components( and possibly the wii). But apparently , a reciever to suit my needs is non existant. So here is my question(s). Is there a reciever that will have an HDMI in and out, that will pull the 5.1 from the HDMI cable? The other components do not matter as much. If not, is there one with 5 optical audio cable inputs? (Apple Tv, PS3, TV output, Xbox, and DVR). If not, is there any other solution. I would like to get a system that is at max 500$ and includes speakers. My tv also had an optical audio out, but apparently that will only carry stereo. Please help!
