I apologize for being so lazy but for those who follow this the answer should be pretty easy.

My Optoma HD72 has been working great for the last 2.5 years but it has developed a high pitched whine or squeal that intermittantly gets louder and quieter. My wife and kids don't notice it but I do and it drives me crazy. Since it is probably more money than I want to spend I am likely going to Ebay it and buy a replacement, which leads to my questions.

What are the top 3 projectors I should be looking at in the around 1500 or less pricerange. 720P is fine, the brighter the better, and known to be quiet.

I'll do the rest of the research from there.

Thanks

The Sharp DT-510 (720p) is less than $700 just recently and the Sanyo Z2000 and Z700 1080p PJs can both be had for @ $1500

Can't help you with your other questions. But your problem is related the bearings of the color wheel going bad, if you were wondering.

A little high for your budget, but I would consider the Mits HC5500 (1080p). After $500 rebate it is real close to your budget.

Well - I got some good info on color wheel replacement so at the moment I've decided to try and find a broken HD72 and get the color wheel from it.

Obviously make sure the color wheel isn't broken in the one you buy ;)
