Costco has that model listed in the subject heading and said they thought it was the same as the 50PZ800U (just with their own model number). Is this true?
Thanks!

View Full Version : Panasonic 50PZ800U same as Costco THC50FD18 model? bloomcounty 11-08-08, 03:09 PM Costco has that model listed in the subject heading and said they thought it was the same as the 50PZ800U (just with their own model number). Is this true? Thanks! RandyWalters 11-08-08, 03:42 PM Costco has that model listed in the subject heading and said they thought it was the same as the 50PZ800U (just with their own model number). Is this true? It's not true. The Th-C50FD18 is virtually the same as the entry-level TH-50PZ80U 1080p model, but the Costco version has a matte black bezel (instead of glossy) and i think it adds a PC input. Bill1313 11-08-08, 06:47 PM Yep, Randy's correct but Costco has had the 50" PZ800 for sale every few months so check your local Costco because they may still have them in your local store. If I remember correctly they had been asking $2,499.99 with the 2 year Costco Warranty & the 90 day return policy. If I remember correctly they had been asking $2,499.99 with the 2 year Costco Warranty & the 90 day return policy. They have it priced at full MSRP? One would think they could do a little better than that. I just bought this TV at Circuit City a week ago for $1979 with 36 month interest-free financing. bloomcounty 11-09-08, 10:17 AM Thanks for the info! Yeah, I'm surprised it's the full price! What do you think the odds are of getting this set even cheaper than that CC price (i.e. the lowest price yet) in the coming weeks? Thanks again! Bill1313 11-09-08, 11:22 AM As I said, If I remember correctly, it might have been $2,299.99 & this was before Panasonic's price cuts so if they get them in again I'm guessing they would be around the $2,000 mark or lower? If your looking for some really good prices on the 50" PZ800 the best prices I've seen are from the "Forum Sponsor's" at the bootom of the page & I would give all of them a call & ask them for their best delivered price. bloomcounty 11-10-08, 03:56 PM As I said, If I remember correctly, it might have been $2,299.99 & this was before Panasonic's price cuts so if they get them in again I'm guessing they would be around the $2,000 mark or lower? You actually said $2,499.99 -- just a heads up! :) Yep, Randy's correct but Costco has had the 50" PZ800 for sale every few months so check your local Costco because they may still have them in your local store. If I remember correctly they had been asking $2,499.99 with the 2 year Costco Warranty & the 90 day return policy. They only have the 58PZ800U (for $3K) right now. I think that's too big a tv for me at 8.5 feet away! (And out of my price range to boot...) But maybe they'll get the 50 back soon... If your looking for some really good prices on the 50" PZ800 the best prices I've seen are from the "Forum Sponsor's" at the bootom of the page & I would give all of them a call & ask them for their best delivered price. Are those the buttons at the top of the page? Or the text links at the bottom? And is One Call a sponsor by chance? Thanks again! Buckeye911 11-10-08, 07:13 PM Are those the buttons at the top of the page? Or the text links at the bottom? And is One Call a sponsor by chance? Thanks again! They are both the text links at the bottom and the buttons at the top of the page. AFAIK, One Call is not a forum sponsor. epicac 01-01-09, 07:42 PM On the day after Christmas, I went to Circuit City where I saw the TH-50PZ800U in a private listening room. The price was $2,099.99. I had researched Panasonic plasmas for 8 months, originally the TH-50PZ85U, particularly looking for a price where I was willing to pull the trigger. I was about to go back to CC to use the Drastic Plastic to pay for it, but decided to try Costco one more time (after hundreds of on-line price queries). I had never seen the TH-50PZ800U at the Costco web site or the store, but to my surprise, they had it in stock on the web for $1,799 with the 2 year warranty and $90 tax and free threshold delivery. I did order it, fortunately, as it was gone from the site within 24 hours. Apparently, if two people each put the last one in their cart and one processes the payment, the only remaining unit is removed from the cart that failed to process the payment in time, so buyer beware! At this time, I have been assured that the TV is somewhere between Georgia and Boston, but there is no tracking info available. With almost $1900 pending, I'm understandably anxious. I agree with the above post to check frequently even if it seems somewhat obsessively compulsive. You may get lucky. I almost paid $300 too much. Still, I would have had my TV already hooked up instead of waiting for delivery information on the web. Good luck with your purchase. Bill1313 01-01-09, 07:58 PM Congrats on your new PZ800 it's a Great TV! Also I think you were smart to have it delivered because if you decide to return it for some reason (Big Price Drop 90 Days Later or a defective tv) all you have to do is call Costco & they will come & get it so you'll never have to worry about returning it yourself. TheRatPatrol 01-08-09, 10:05 PM I just saw the THC50FD18 on sale at Costco for 1200.00, thats with a 250.00 off manufacturers instant rebate (through 1/31/09). Can anyone tell me if this is a good set to buy? Consumer Reports rates other Panasonics with excellent and very good ratings overall. (the TH50PZ750U and TH50PZ85U). Any information about this set would be great. Thanks jrandeck 01-10-09, 09:52 PM I'm also looking at the THC50FD18 at Costco. It looks to be very similar to the TH-50PZ80U for a few hundred bucks less (if you don't mind the matte bezel) |
