I have a Genelec 7073 with my center channel sitting on it separated by sorbothane. I've been wondering if I would be better off using my Sound Anchor stand in front of the sub for the center channel. This would place the center channel several feet in front of the L/R speakers and about 4+ feet in front of my screen. My Theta CBIII allows up to 10 msec delay per speaker but I already use 6 to sound the best.
Would I be better off moving the center or staying put? I'm looking for the cleared dialogue possible.

I would think leaving it closer inline with the L&R and the screen would be better but if you have the speaker stand you could always check for yourself.

Is moving the sub into a corner an option?
In theory the sub doesn't even need to be in the front of the room if you use bass management and set your LFE crossover frequency low enough (assuming your mains can handle some bass without rolloff)

1ms of delay is about 1.13 feet (at 20C) so you are good up to about an 11 foot difference.
Assuming that your sub is not of very lightweight construction, I do not believe though that the kind of stand, spiked for example, or the use of sorbothane under the center speaker will have any discernable impact on the clarity of dialog. I've yet to hear a convincing demonstration nor have I seen read of a proper objective test.
I think that you are better served by keeping the fronts as much as possible in the same plane.
You almost certainly will get greater bass by moving the sub to a corner, but it might not be as smooth as it is with a center line position.

My sub isn't exactly light weight at 265lbs. ;) Here's a link to the manufacturer:http://www.genelecusa.com/products/subwoofers/7073a/

My bass output is more than enough for a relatively small room. My main problem is sound leakage and inadequate pressurization of the space. I've been toying with a dedicated HT above my garage but that would be a real time commitment.
I have a SMS-1 and full range mains but the front positioning works, corner loading is not an option due to the size of the sub. I have ordered the xtz room analyzer package as reviewed by Kal in Stereophile. It will allow me to measure tweaks of positioning.
The sound anchors stand is a heavy, custom metal stand that I have stored in my garage. I would need a bit of help getting it into the house and upstairs to the HT. I may eventually resort to that but I'm hoping that my present solution is the best.

What a shamefully inadequate subwoofer, sir. :eek:You should strive for something better. I will take it off your hands quickly and quietly so that the neighbors do not know of your shame.
How big a room do you have and do you have gear to protect your ear drums and chest cavavity from collapse?
Room is small, approx. 14x14 with a bath 6x8 that it opens onto with a dormer window. Problem is room is too small for wavelength plus too many doors/closets. My last home had a dedicated HT that I built that was acoustically excellent. I had 2 smaller subs yet the bass was truly heart stopping. When I ran test tones below 20Hz my dog got nauseated.
I appreciate your kind offer but fortunately my neighbors are too far away for me to be a nuisance. Funny but true story. My wife had the dogs outside at night while I was playing A Perfect Storm. She heard and felt thunder but when she looked up the sky was clear. I think that she felt more of the sub's effects than I did inside!
