View Full Version : Looking for Remote with Timer Functions

Right now I have the good ol' C-Band satellite dish for most of my TV watching, and limited cable which is mostly over-the-air stuff. Now that the broadcasters have their digital signals running, I get more programming through the antenna than the cable, so I would like to discontinue it. The digital signals are much clearer too.

I also use a ReplayTV system which has the C-Band and local cable system in its program guide.

I would like to automatically record digital OTA programming to the ReplayTV, but the converter box I have doesn't have a timer. (It's not a $40 coupon model. I bought it several years ago.)

Can anyone recommend a remote control that has some timer functions to set the channel on the converter box a couple times a day? I don't have a problem with antenna positioning since almost all the transmitters are directly north and south of me. I believe I've seen a couple at Smarthome, but it might be less expensive to hire someone to come to my house and change the channel every day. As you can tell by the equipment I'm still using; I'm cheap.

Thanks

If you want cheap, then you'll have to go old, very old. look on ebay for realistic 1901, 1901A, and 1903. Or memorex CP8 or CP8 turbo.

these are 1980's and early 90's remotes, no codes strictly learning remotes.

Thanks for the suggestion Edmund,
OK, well I'm not that cheap, although I have gotten some decent electronics at the Put-N'-Take area at the town dump.

Since I'll be saving about $12/month on my cable TV bill, I figure something in the $50-$60 range will have a decent payback.

The last remotes I knew to have timers are Sony av3000 & 3100, long discontinued. above them philips prontos.

then the one-for-all urc- 8080, 8800, 8090, 9800 av & home producer 8 models had timers. Also discontinued.
