barbie845 11-09-08, 09:26 PM is that some sirius stations(music)on XM.... and if so is there a new sirius lineup?
Yes it is some of Sirius's music channels on XM. The consolidation of the channels seems to have started.
As far as I know Sirius hasn't released their line-up yet. I 'THINK' most of the channels will be the same as XM's, BUT obviously some of the channel numbers will be different.
From what I've read both companies will make an 'official' announcements of their lineups by Nov. 12th, which is good because that's when these changes suppose to happen.
barbie845 11-10-08, 07:56 AM This news is being reported by USA today, among others. But as usual XM and Sirius has dropped the ball.
This morning in my email there's my 'What's on XM' advertisement from XM. It says nothing about the line-up chances. As a matter of fact the link in the email that points to their channel line-up still shows the old line-up.
This is typical XM and Sirius. A major change in a couple of days and neither is saying a damn thing about it.
Also missing is that while the decades channels will be remaining, they will most likely be changed to something more similar to the Sirius versions than the XM versions, which will probably make some people happy and others upset.

At least you get their e-mails. I've signed up several times for updates, without any luck. Heck of a way to run a business.

That's why I committed to the music only ($9.99) monthly installment plan. If you sign up for a year, you might face a problem getting your money back in the very likelihood of a bankruptcy or a dissalution of Sirius-XM by this time next year. They owe at least $1.1 billion in debt next year. In times of economic trouble such as this one, how will they roll-over the debt? The company is in serious trouble. At least 60% of new subscribers are actually new car owners. Look at the big 3 (Ford, GM, Chrysler). All in trouble here/
I am disgusted that Beyond Jazz is going away. There is no comparable station.
barbie845 11-11-08, 04:49 PM The XM line-up as of tomorrow. No Sirius line-up yet. This line-up wasn't even from XM, this was leaked to a newspaper, so I've read. What a company. Tomorrow people will wonder why things have changed and still no official announced from either.

Same here. We (both hubby and I) enjoy listening to that station, especially on weekend nights. We're just hoping there still will be SOME sort of replacement for it later on (hopefully soon).

I hope Sirius keeps 16 - The Vault. Since XM's not carrying it, if they don't, I won't want either of them then.
I listened to The Vault the few times I've had a rental with Sirius. The closest thing to The Vault on XM was Top Tracks. It will now be called Classic Vinyl and will remain on 46.
In my opinion, Deep Tracks is much better than The Vault ever was. I could do without Dan Neer and the Bill Fitzhugh show, but nothing's perfect...
barbie845 11-11-08, 05:56 PM Update..
Christmas music on Holly will be on XM Channel 35 and Sirius channel 81 starting tomorrow, 11/12/08.
No other word on any of the other Holiday channels.

barbie845,
Is this for XM radio holders "only", or is this for everyone?
Seems to mention only about XM radio holders, which is odd. It seems more and more like Sirius radio owners are getting the shaft somehow.
No MLB come spring, if the company survives of course, while XM holders get anything of value from the Sirius side of things(Howard/NFL) while we get Oprah(Yip F'n EEEE!!).
Guess I will have to wait and see if my Sirius Stiletto 10 does that "updating streams thing" when first turned on tommorow.

From what I'm hearing there will be a total of 5 Holiday Channels, starting with Holly tomorrow.
BOTH services will get all 5 channels. Check Sirius Channel 81 tomorrow and you should hear Jingle Bells. :)
BTW the reason they didn't move MLB over this year was because the season was almost over when they started this 'migration'. Next year you will 1) get MLB on Sirius units and 2) there should be all in one units out by then that will obviously also get MLB.. Of course all this is IF there is a SiriusXM next April.
nightowl 11-11-08, 10:42 PM This news is being reported by USA today, among others. But as usual XM and Sirius has dropped the ball.
It wasn't "reported" by USA Today, it was a full page ad in USA Today by SiriusXM. Now that we're about an hour away from the changes on XM, it appears that the ad is all we are getting for confirmation from them.

It was 'leaked' by USA Today on the 7th.. It was also picked up on some blogs. Rumor is USA Today had the Ad on the 7th and they, and others leaked the line-up.
Why a change like this needs to be 'leaked' instead of SiriusXM releasing this to the media is beyond me.
And this morning, the 12th I did receive the official email from XM about the line-up changes, The day of the changes they make the announcement. Amazing!!
daniels1994 11-12-08, 05:48 AM Bad news if you have XM and are a Springsteen fan. The mostly music package ($9.99/month) DOES NOT HAVE channel 58, E Street Radio. Tested it this morning, also no Grateful Dead Channel. So those interested will have to pay $12.99 package (XM Everything). No sale from me, I guess the only thing I will miss from the E street radio channel is the preview and full run of the new Bruce record, due around Jan 20 or 27th (To maximize his SuperBowl halftime show Feb 1).

Damn, I was hoping that CNBC would come back in all of this confusion!
vrizzard 11-12-08, 03:07 PM For a longtime XM Subscriber like myself (2 radios & Directv) today's total channel line up switch is making me rethink continuing my subscription and actually cancelling now and getting my remaining months money back.
When they cancelled Fungus 53, which was the best punk show any where with specialty shows for SKA and Surf music, I just about called immediately and cancelled. But, I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt and wait and see. However, the new XM+Best of Sirius line up today, all of my favorites (the before mentioned Fungus 53, Chill 84) are gone or now the Sirius version, which is nothing like the real thing. Smooth Electronic is not the same as what XM Chill 84 played!!! A Lot of it really seems like elevator music.
I am I the only one that thinks this is reminisent of the new Coke fiasco when back in the 80s?
I listen to XM all day and have something XM playing at the office, in the car or at home almost 18-hours a day. So, I will give them a bit long to see if they incorporate, hopefully, some of the great now gone/changed XM stations into their new Sirius versions. But if today is any indication it looks like I may be getting some money back to spend on the real things (old-fashioned CDs or MP3s).
barbie845 11-12-08, 03:23 PM I listen to decades, 46, 49 and MLB.
So far I've listened to the 60's for an hour or so and it sounds the same.
I'll have to listen to the 70's, 46 and 49 before I make any judgements.
vrizzard 11-12-08, 03:51 PM I wanted to add that this was the most informative place I found online regarding the New XM lineup. Plus, it made me become a AVS Forum user.

So thank you AV Science Forum & the New XM lineup? thread
There's lots of good info on the AVS forum. Everywhere.
mainemojo 11-12-08, 05:07 PM vrizzard: You should also explore xm411.com and xmfan.com. They both have extensive info, although some discussions tend to be dominated by shareholders (what's best for the stock price or dividend may not always be best for the average listener) and some of the threads tend to quickly degenerate into rants and insults.
My first impression of the new lineup: No complaints. I listen mostly to The Loft and Deep Tracks, and they're still here. I'm glad to get E Street Radio and Margaritaville. And MLB is why I chose XM over Sirius in the first place.
And BTW, even though I signed up for e-mail notices again on Tuesday, still no official word from XM about the changes.
vrizzard 11-12-08, 05:41 PM Found Spa 72 and been listening to it for a while today and it is calming. Not the same as Chill 84 but not bad.
Deep Tracks makes it to Sirius - Great!!
I was going to miss Earl Baley.
Same here. We (both hubby and I) enjoy listening to that station, especially on weekend nights. We're just hoping there still will be SOME sort of replacement for it later on (hopefully soon).

Russ and Michelle are setting up an internet site with a new project coming soon. Don't know what it will be yet but look forward to it.
mx6bfast 11-12-08, 08:59 PM I thought I heard on one of the sports stations that the English Premier League is carried by Sirius XM. I have an XM receiver. I looked on the website but can't find any mention about it. What channel are the EPL games on and are they in English?

EPL is on Sirius channel 125. They carry commentaries from UK radio stations so, yes, they are in English!
clskinsfan 11-12-08, 10:37 PM Can any of you who have both Sirius and XM tell me if Boneyard is as good as Buzzsaw was. I loved Buzzsaw and if Boneyard is not as good i will not renew my subscription in january.
Why did they have too kill off some channels anyways? If the new boxes that come out some time soon can see all the channels, the Sirius people can keep there channels the XM people can keep there channels and if you want something the other service has then get the new box and pay a little more. Thinking about Killing my XM service after having it since 2002. They kill of a ton of channels I love. 66Raw the City Lucy and now the system is online only.WTF
Actually the internet/online system is "seriously" messed up. Channels are not coming in and the program information has stalled.
Everyone send XM an email letting them know how you feel? I'm ticked off! I feel like I just got kicked in the nuts. This really took the wind out of me. For four years I've been listening to XM84, XM65, XM83 and now there gone. These were the cornerstone channels of XM for me, which is why I never got Sirius. We knew about the merger but jeez? Does anyone actually listen to the Broadway show channel?
Someone mentioned Spa 72, it won't even come up on the internet browser method? Well, they just lost my renewal commitment! This opens the door for Pandora!

Well, don't forget we now get an awesome 40's channel, that I'm sure will be broadcast in 32kb. This merger has ruined both products, and I feel will lead to their eventual death.
mx6bfast 11-13-08, 09:44 AM EPL is on Sirius channel 125. They carry commentaries from UK radio stations so, yes, they are in English!
I have XM so I guess I can't get this channel. :(

The were dying and on their death bed before the merger too.

I'm just waiting for the extended length Sirius "commercials" (The one where they would cross-advertise other channels for 3+ minutes and talk about other BS) to come to the "commercial free" channels and then I'm done...

Well, I was an XM listener, my favorite channels were Fred,Lucy,Ethel. There was
no talk, and no commercials. Yesterday when I went home from work, I listened to
1st Wave (was Fred) the whole way (50 Minutes). I heard a DJ, and he talked over the start of
a song. I also heard 2 commercials for their other stations. 1 was for the new
AC/DC channel, and the other was for the Holly channel.
I called and complained, and said if I hear a DJ, or commercials on my way home
today, I'm calling and canceling. She took my info down, I don't hold out much hope
though for a fix by today.

It was inevitable that this day would come. The two services merged because they couldn’t afford to compete with each other. Now, to survive, they have to consolidate their programming. Why can’t they keep all the channels? Because it costs too much. They need to consolidate to run their business efficiently. So, it makes perfect sense to figure out which stations are pretty much duplicates and eliminate one of them (Top Tracks? Classic Vinyl? One of them had to go).
Unfortunately, some channels were eliminated without having an adequate replacement. For me, the one change that is really disappointing is the loss of Fine Tuning. The station that played “the world’s most interesting music” wasn’t interesting enough to survive the cut? I don’t buy it. I’ve already e-mailed XM and signed an online petition. Will it help? Who knows? But if there’s any chance that they will reconsider, I figure it’s worth the effort to make my opinion heard.
I would be surprised if some cuts/changes weren’t reversed due to customer feedback. I would suggest that anyone who is upset about the loss of a channel should contact XM and let them know. I recommend keeping it civil and non-sarcastic (just my opinion, but I believe negative feedback is received better when presented intelligently, logically and objectively).
In my case, I will not even consider cancelling my subscription regardless of how I feel about the changes. The fact of the matter is that I subscribed so that I could listen to baseball (I’m a huge Tigers fan). As long as they have all the MLB games available, I’ll be a customer.

I am glad to hear I'm not the only one! I had Sirius for 6-months (plus subscribing to the free online trials) in one of my vehicles and this was one of THE MOST annoying things I experienced and the very reason I did not subscribe to Sirius. Now unfortunately that BS is making it's way to XM...
FWIW, I did call XM (1-800-967-2346) and express my disgust with the recent changes to the lineup... The customer service person did take the time to write down my comments and concerns, which I appreciated.
i was a big fan of The Rhyme (65) for old school hip hop. that was a great station and good shows.
i dont understand why they move channels away from their formats. i thought fox business was canceled but it was moved to another channel, yet CNBC and Bloomberg are within the same channel lines.
i hope they keep 202 alive as well.
escapecar 11-13-08, 04:08 PM I'm a Sirius subscriber, and I'll add my disappointment that they completely eliminated a couple of formats - Sirius Disorder was roughly equivalent to Fine Tuning, and they dumped it, too. The same with the old-school rap stations, XM Rhyme and Sirius Backspin.
Disorder was the home of many of Sirius' more interesting weekly shows, and while they appear to have shuffled them all off to The Loft, the regular programming on The Loft is nowhere near that of Disorder. (The Loft sounds a lot like Sirius Spectrum to my ears, just with less prominent artists.)
I've never really understood Sirius' insistence on ignoring some genres (funk) while micro-slicing others (metal). Sirius is lucky the FM radio where I live is a bad joke, and I have a long daily commute, otherwise I'd have canceled long ago.

memnoch2 11-13-08, 04:15 PM Nooooooooooo!! They killed Boombox!!
haha. glad to hear someone else is disappointed about this... i e-mailed Liquid Todd to express my disappointment and he mentioned he will be doing a regular show in Alt Nation that will mimic Boombox's style and they will look for a spot for DJ Icey's Automatic Static show... for a regular breaks fix, you can record Annie Nightingale's show from BBC Radio 1 every 5a-7a ET saturdays.
I have XM so I guess I can't get this channel. :(
Not to depress you even more, but you not only get the EPL you also get all Chelsea games and they also carry the Champions league all the way to the finals.

On the plus side, he'll never have to listen to The Football Show. :p Between Giorgio Chinaglia's impenetrable Welsh/Italian accent, and Charlie Stilletano dropping names and sucking up to Giorgio, it's painful radio.

I coulda gone without hearing that news, forever. ;)
Although the Chelsea tidbit makes me kinda glad I don't get this. Manu fan.
It would be nice with the merger if XM subs could listen to select Sirius stations online different than the best of package.

Completly agree! very annoying.
Called to complain about the channel change and they hung up on me. The second time the took down every thing and said look at next week for some new info. A ton of people are calling up and complaining. The rep said a ton of people are also complaining.

exadeath 11-14-08, 09:12 PM Canceled Sirius subscription. The guy was sympathetic and tried to convince me to stick around for a few months while they got their act together.
It was helped by the fact my radio recently lost the LCD. I would have had the hassle of replacing it. Roaming around from my usual stations wasn't going to work since i could only guess what I was listening to.
I don't like liquid metal(which replaced hard attack), it has less edge to it. I also felt the playlists on other stations was more mainstream.
Nowadays I can dump a ton of music and podcasts on a USB stick and plug it into my car, so if I am going to have to change a little I might as change the way I want.
I listen to decades, 46, 49 and MLB.
So far I've listened to the 60's for an hour or so and it sounds the same.
I'll have to listen to the 70's, 46 and 49 before I make any judgements.
46 now has all the "star" DJs from Sirius. Way too much talk. I heard these same people play this same music all through the 80s and 90s. I know the songs. I don't need to be told what they are. Save money and fire the DJs. I'm sure they don't work cheap.
Decades channels try to pretend they're radio stations, so DJs are right in character. Deep Tracks plays stuff either I've never heard of, or haven't heard for years. The hosts provide a welcomed service there (except Dan Neer.) Too bad GTM got sick. He and Earle Bailey (and some of the less-heard other) had it right.

I'm teetering toward cancelling....
I can't believe they took Cinemagic off at the second busiest movie time of the year. No Reel Time to get me up to speed on new movies coming out until after the new year! Thank goodness they had the "Quantum of Solace" show before going on hiatus. I'm waiting to see what shows up in January, but since this channel is the main reason I have satellite radio it better be the same or better (keep up the great work Dave Z) or it's cancellation time.
I'm certainly not encouraged by the changes to the Blend and the Heart either - I tried to listen to them tonight and was really annoyed by the songs playing. And with the talk of DJ's on other channels, I'm leery about this whole change. XM didn't need all the DJ's. Dave Z gave a heads up on Cinemagic once every few hours to say what programming was coming up - and then got out of the way.
Cinemagic, Fine Tuning and XM chill 84 were the bomb! They've ruined XM84 with a bunch of Sirius programming. Too much singing and coffee house stuff! It was nice to chill out and nod your head to instrumentals from Tom Middleton, Paul Hardcastle, Espresso Del Lago, Nightmares on Wax, Track N' Field and so many more!
HELLO PANDORA! This is your opportunity to get in there!

Does anyone really need anymore Elvis? Jimmy Buffet channel, are they kidding me? Who in the hell listens to Broadway tunes? Why have 3 rap stations that all play the same junk? At least with the Rhyme 65 you had some fun old school to reminisce to. This just really sucks.
Stefan Young 11-22-08, 06:02 AM I surely hope us listeners win this revolution!

Don't get me wrong, I feel your pain. But one person's On Broadway is another's Rhyme 65. You want to campaign for "fun old school" -- knock yourself out. But doing it by suggesting there's no audience for the music you don't like ignores the likelihood that listener numbers help guide the channel decisions.
I'm getting 3 months of XM in my new car, based on this Howard 100 will now be on XM station 100 too correct?
nightowl 11-24-08, 01:04 AM I'm getting 3 months of XM in my new car, based on this Howard 100 will now be on XM station 100 too correct?
Howard 100 is on 100 on XM, if you sub to the "Best of Sirius" it will show up.
Thanks, I think that's an added fee over the stuff I'm getting for free. I let my Sirius sub expire before the merged channels and wasnt really looking for satellite radio in my next car but the one I'm getting has it built in, I figure might as well take advantage of it for at least a year past that with the merged line up...
My car skips from 97 to like 116, guess I don't get the Howard stuff with my free three months =( RawDog is on their tho..
