Hi have a Sony Handy cam DCR-HC40 and recently the LCD screen quit working the arrows and so forth can be seen on the screen but when I touch it nothing happens, it’s like it froze on me have been at the Sony site and followed their instructions, turn off the power etc to no avail. Have reset the reset button and it led me to the set up date menu, then again unable to use the touch pad on the lcd.

Has any one had the same problem, if so how did you correct it?

I have no fix to suggest but I did have the same LCD problem on my HC20. I had to start using the remote control.

Now there's something else wrong with the camcorder's image sensor in that just shows black with some noise so I'm in the market for another camcorder.

I hear you, I do not wan't a HDVD cam, have a lot of mini dvd tapes to edit and so forth so will get another Mini DVD I know that Cannon has a HDDVD with tapes but since the holiday's are around the corner will just replace the Sony and wait a few years for a HDDVD.
