i subscribed Time Warner cable TV last month and have a Sony Bravia HD LCD tv, Samsung smt-3050 set top box and Universal remote control issued by Time Warner(model:UR5U-8700L). In the first few days, everything was ok. But recent two weeks, i sometimes couldn't use the remote to change the channel, the Samsung box just doesn't response to the remote. But after a while, the remote works again, it's very wired.I called the customer technical support, but can't solve the problem. What even more weird is my Sony LCD TV responds to the remote perfectly. When I turned off the TV, the Samsung box can be controled by the remote, but if I turn on the TV, the Samsung box sometimes just don't respond to the remote again. I am almost desperate, can anyone here can help me ,thanks!!!

Do you have any compact flourescent light bulbs or can lights on dimmers with direct line of site to the cable box? I've had occasional problems with the lights "jamming" the IR signal - finally figured it out when I noticed that I only had problems at night. Some components are more susceptible to this than others - might be why your TV responds fine but the cable box sometimes doesn't respond.

Hope this helps,

Mike
