Hi,

I'm new to this forum and I am an admitted novice to the world of media servers and streaming anything - but I am hoping that someone can advise me on a problem that I am having.

I have a Linksys NAS200 with a single 1TB SATA harddrive configured on it. I have enabled the NAS200's media server and have enabled guest access and as near as I can tell I have things setup as needed.

I also have a DirectV HR21-100 HDTV DVR that has media sharing capabilities.

When I access the the media sharing menu on the DirectV box I am able to see the NAS. I am able to view pictures and am able to get the system into slideshow.

I am able to see all of my music files (12,000+), my playlists, all of the folders, artist and genre groupings as well.

The problem is that none of the music files (all mp3's) will play on the HR21-100. On the TV screen each file shows with an "X" where a music icon should be and 0:00 shows where the song's duration should show up.

I have similar issues with video files. Some files show with an "X" in the media-type field and some show with the correct "video camera" icon - but none will play.

The NAS200 is on the same LAN subnet as the HR21-100.

I called up DirectV and worked with a technician who I'm sure had no idea what he was talking about and my problem continues Can anyone help me?

Are the two devices not compatible?

Thanks for your help

Al
