Hi everyone, I am a first time poster and am in desperate need of some advice! I have a Panasonic Pt AE 900u projecter with around 3000 hrs on it, I just replaced the lamp 250 hrs ago, and well around 10 hrs ago the projecter just shuts down and restarts while im watching it. Sometimes it comes back on within a min or two, but it really struggles. When I say struggles I mean it is like some one is at the back puling the power cord in and out quickly. Its not over heating and I have tried adjusting every setting I can! it restarts at varried intervaults, it can go an hour all good then sometimes can't make it a whole minuite without crapping out. Any Idea's I dont want to spend a fortune to find out whats wrong and fix it but dont want to throw it in the trash either, any help would be awesome!! thx so much!

So I suppose you have cleaned the filter? Take out the lamp and re-seat it, maybe it's only a contact that is not working correctly. Otherwise, it could be a whole range of issues. Failing PSU, failing thermistor, failing ballast, bad lamp, supply-side problem (mains power/ups) etc.

We have a 900U with a lot of hard use on it but have not yet had to change the bulb.

This could be something as simple as the power cord not being firmly seated into the PJ or wall. Since the only thing you did was change the bulb carefully inspect everything you touched and be sure bulb is seated properly.

Was the old bulb still working at all without the PJ rebooting? If so, you could try putting the old bulb carefully back in and if the reboot issue goes away then your new bulb could be defective - it does happen.

I would doubt that the power supply or other components that were working okay with the old bulb would coincidentally fail unless you somehow loosened a connector or etc.

Off Topic but one of our pinball games suddenly began doing the same thing - reboot every few minutes - all I had done was move it across the room - I was searching online and in schematics when my bride found the power cord that plugs into the base of the machine had become partially pulled loose - she loves doing this to me in situations like this!!

Thanks everyone! Ya, I replaced my Air filter when I replaced the lamp. Last night I took apart the whole projector and found tons of dust, so thick that it hardened and had to use cleaner to get it off. I vaccumed it all out and cleaned the fan blades, took the lamp out cleaned the ends and inside the housing. So far I am pleased to report all is good! It ran without incident for about 30 mins or so, hopefully this solves it but that would be to easy wouldn't it! lol
