I have a Sony 60XBR2.. it has never been calibrated, and it seems the picture has an incredible amount of red and green push. It seems almost as though there is no blue to conteract the yellow that is created in the white balance. The set is a couple years old, as I got it in exchange of the 50XBR2 with a bad optical block. I have tried everything to correct the problem, but feel I might be making things worse. I did just recently move, and replace the bulb.

I guess the main reason for asking.. is I don't want to waste an ISF tech's time, just to find out there is something actually wrong with the set.

How do black and white images look? Be sure to base your answer on either a test pattern or a clean, accurate B & W image. Some B & W movies shown on satellite or cable have a color cast to them. If that is all you have to choose from, turn the color saturation all the way down while looking at the B & W image.
If your grayscale/white balance is negative blue, black and white will have a yellowish cast.
If that is not the case, then you are reacting to the color decoding and color gamut, not the white balance.
What will get you the most accurate image without a professional calibration is to use custom mode, turn all the enhancements under advanced video options off, and turn color from the default 55 down to 50. You may want to turn the sharpness down to about 27.
If the push you are describing is due to color decoding rather than white balance, turning the color down to 50 will help.
If B & W does look yellowish, try one of the other color temp presets.

hi
This display could also be subject to the "green blob" issue. When you turn the color control down to zero the set should look black and white. When you do this, is the screen uniform in color or are the areas of the set that look yellow / green / purple? If yes, your display needs repair.

thanks for all the help.. I am calling sony today, luckily... it still is under warranty. One thing, is that the color is uniform, all be it, bad.
