Need advise on 1080p projector selection. I was using NEV HT-1000 DLP projector until now but its dead and I am in the need of buying a new one. My selection is between BENQ W5000, Panasonic PT-AE3000 or Epson powerlite Home Cinema 6100 which is latest LCD projector. The only concern I have is the choice between DLP to LCD. Does LCD will be Sharper and Dark colored image vs DLP? Thanks for your input.

Don't forget the Mits HC5500 / HC6500
Like the OP, I am also considering a new PJ.
My research has shown these basic differences between LCD and DLP. These are generalities, mind you.
DLP excels in sharpness and contrast.
LCD excels in picture warmth and placement flexibility.
I have removed the BenQ W5000 from my list because of the throw distance and poor lens shift. If I bought one, I would need an extender pole and to move my current PJ mount to accomodate. Not worth the trouble to me, so it is off my list. My current list includes:
Epson 1080
Epson 6100
Sanyo Z700
My budget seems a little tighter than yours, as these are all between $1600 and $2000. My plan is to wait to see the Black Friday sales, then make a decision. Right now leaning towards 6100, but that changes daily .
