With the new channel line up today it appears Sirius has decided to take away one of the best things about satellite radio - apparently Hip Hip Nation and The Heat (formerly Hot Jamz) are now censored.

What a bunch of complete BS.

Might be time to cancel.

I agree.

Honestly if I wanted to listen to censored Hip Hop, I'd put in a Will Smith CD or turn on FM radio. I sent them an e-mail to complain, but chances are I won't be reupping my subscription come Dec.

The stupid part is right now during DJ E-Feezy Grind Time Radio it's uncensored. They better bring back the uncensored or I'll start listening to free radio again and cancel.

call and raise hell. I was told that they channels should go back to being uncensored today, or tomorrow. They are still getting the programming ironed out.

But I'm furious we lost backspin & maxim.

I will admit that I don't listen or particularly care for the rap channels, but the one thing I appreciated about being a Sirius subscriber was the lack of censorship. Just the idea that something I am paying for is being censored bothers me, even if I am not listening to those channels. It's all part of the "opt in" experience. Kids listen to the radios? So then change the channel or put on FM radio. Why does EVERYTHING these days have to be "Family friendly"? You'd think there'd be enough damn family friendly content around...

Sometimes when you push the boundaries, you lose listeners but you also gain others. Look at what George Carlin did.. and now Howard Stern. I have heard some people talk about not subscribing to Sirius simply because they don't like the fact that Sirius carries Howard. I am one of the people who signed up for Sirius because they DO carry Howard.

I 100% Agree... other than Stern and Area 38 & Chan36, I listened to Hot Jamz, which was Great!, not I might as well listen to the local hip-hop stations...

I posted an email response I received from Jon Zellner at XM in the other thread here. I also received an email from the program director at Sirius. They both assured me that Shade and Hip Hop Nation would broadcast uncensored on Sirius. Well that was 2 weeks ago and they continue to play censored records.

I agree that this is complete bs. However, it will make it easier for me not to renew my subscription next year.

No Backspin anymore, but they still have Bluegrass and about 40 other country stations. Someone needs a kick in the - - - -

Honestly if I wanted to listen to censored Hip Hop, I'd put in a Will Smith CD or turn on FM radio. The more I read the less inclined I am to buy a Satellite radio. If it's no better than the 20 free music FM stations I get, why upgrade?

still censored...

on the way to home from work tonight decided to turn on hip-hop nation. a good play list was going but every song was censored.

with backspin coming back in Jan I hope they lift whatever they have going on.

then we can focus on getting back Spitkicker, mrs kitty and others...

Hip hop nation is not censored. Some songs from the stock were being played but have mostly been eliminated. It is a work in progress
