I got mine yesterday from Amazon but because haven't had the time to crack it open yet(hopefully later today).

Anyone else who picked it up have any comments on it yet?

I ordered my copy from Deep Discount for around $61 after the coupon. It's backordered, so I don't expect it anytime soon. But I did enjoy the first couple episodes of the HD-DVD, so I'm looking forward to owning the complete set.

I've got the first few DVD/HD-DVD episodes myself and thought they were among the best(and most expensive) HD-DVDs produced.I can't wait to see how the BluRay editions compare!:)

I feel ripped off since they promised to finish the series in HD DVD, but now they aren't releasing the seventh episode on HD DVD. They should at least sell the seventh disk separately for those of us with the previous disks.

Luckily I didn't get the #6 HD-DVD so it works out that the cost of #6 and #7 (if it existed) would have been about the same as DD's $61 cost for the entire blu-ray. Although I would have preferred to not have spent the money on #1-5, but what can you do.

From what I heard, the reason #7 of Freedom could not be released on HD DVD is simply because there were no longer any production lines manufacturing HD DVD discs. You can't sell something you cannot manufacture. So it's not Bandai Visual's fault, they did what they could and they continued to issue Freedom up to #6 before the lines were all scrapped.

As for Freedom box set on Blu-ray, I can think of better animes to spend my money on. :)

Indeed, that is the reason the 7th Freedom disc never made it stateside. The Freedom Bluray includes alot of extras that the HD-DVD didn't have, including but not limited to the series prologue.Imo the animation quality of Freedom is some of the best currently available, with the import Bluray versions of Steamboy and Five Centimeters Per Second also of excellent quality.

I just ordered the new Japanese Bluray version of the first Full Metal Panic series that includes both the Japanese and English dub tracks in True HD.It's COSTING me, but to me it'll be well worth it.In the meantime i am enjoying Freedom ALOT and I find it well worth the $64 it cost me.

FYI, all the Full Metal Panic Blu-ray releases in Japan have unremoveable Japanese subtitles when the English dub is selected, and there are no English subtitles for the Japanese dialogue.

I did my research before i spent the $250+ on the set, believe me.I can speak Japanese and can read it also(though not nearly as well),so a lack of subtitles on the Japanese language track is np for me.The inclusion of the English dub for me is just icing on the cake and forced Japanese subtitles aren't likely to bother me much at all.Considering the BR versions of FMP(original Gonzo series),FMP:The Second Raid, and the upcoming FMP:Fumoffu BluRay sets are of Japanese production, such thigns are expected.

Okay, good that you knew. Just making sure, and also posting for the benefit of those who didn't know (although from what I hear the Blu-ray set of the 1st series is getting hard to find online).

I paid a premium for the FMP:season one Bluray set(4 br set for $248).Thankfully i ordered it a few weeks back before Amazon Japan sold out and raised the price sky high(currently average $360).FMP:TSR can still be found for around $250 but i doubt it will stay that way very long and FMP:Fumoffu is on preorder for about $265 for Dec. 26 release.

I've even seen some retailers (online)asking $125-$150 for the Freedom BR set already.Luckily you can still get it on Amazon for about $80 and through a few others for as low as $65 if you look around and IF they still have it in stock.Gunbuster vs. Diebuster can be found on Amazon for a preorder price of $58.99 for the 3 disc Bluray set if anyone is interested. It will release Dec. 9th.

The Funimation Samurai Seven BR set alot of folks have been looking forward to, has been pushed back until Jan.20,2009, and has a preorder price of $66.99 for the 3 disc Bluray boxed set.

Well, it wasn't Amazon themselves who raised it, Amazon sold out and now the 3rd party Amazon sellers are trying to capitalize on people who don't bother looking on Yahoo Auctions, etc.

I considered getting it myself, but since it's just an upscale I can live without it.

I bought the set yesterday... but I can't watch it until I get home (4 more days...).
Very frustrating. I LOVE the packaging, though. Best yet on Blu-ray, IMO.
