I just got a new Sony 46z4100 tv.
I have an xbox360 and a ps3 that go into a new monoprice 3x1 switcher. My third input will be a Dishnetwork HD reciever.

My problem is that the TV doesn't get a 1080p signal from the PS3 when it's routed through the HDMI switcher.

The Xbox360 comes through in 1080p. But for some reason, the tv only wants to pick up 480p from the PS3.

I did firmware upgrades in both TV and PS3.

If I send the HDMI cable direct to the TV (not through the switcher), it does 1080p just fine.

Any ideas?

I'm wondering if it's a faulty switcher, but the Xbox360 works fine?

I'm very confused.

Any help would surely be appreciated!

Sounds like a handshake issue with the PS3 through the switcher. Have you contacted Monoprice about this?

Thanks for the reply.
I have sent an email to Monoprice and am waiting for a reply.

I'm wondering if I might be wise to send this one back and get another..
perhaps a 4:1 with the Rev. 1.3b?

I'll post the reply from Monoprice when/if they do get back to me.

Thanks

Here is the response from Monoprice:

Thank you for your inquiry. The problem you are facing is a compatibility issue, better known as the HDCP Handshaking. Unfortunately, the major flaw with HDMI is that the HDCP Handshaking prevents consumers like you and I, to enjoy some of the most convenient factors of home entertainment. .

The manufacturer's of the devices which we use doesn't seem to always abide by the HDMI Organization's rule of thumb to keep the firmware updated as they should.

Since there's only a handful of situations similar to this occur, my next step to handle this would be to have the current switcher in your possession returned for a refund (Which you already have).

I can try pointing you in the direction of another switcher that you may provide a better outcome, however, the HDMI Matrix feature can only be found on our 4x2 HDMI Matrix switcher at this time.

Once again, I apologize for the inconvenient experience this event has caused you.

I am very thankful for your cooperation in answering the questions for not only myself, but the company's own record-keeping to ameliorate our line of products. Thank you very much for your support with Monoprice.com.
