Not sure if this is the right topic thread.
We have a stereo unit in a closet - just because it was the best place to put it, it's out of the way and works great. One problem we have is that in order to control it, we need to keep the door cracked.
Does anyone know if there is something that we can use to repeat/tunnel the signal from one side of the wall to the other? I tried using a piece of fibre, but that didn't work. The unit we have is an Onkyo TX-8011. It is pretty amazing how little space is needed for the signal to get thru. How about a peep hole, like you put in your door to see who is on the other side? Prefer to do something non-electronic.

Thanks
Ken

any kind of ir repeater will do what you want. Many of them come with IR eye's they almost look like the door peep holes where its a very small round eye.

I was concerned about the responsiveness of the repeaters. Reviews that I have seen talk about having to be close to the units to get them to work well. Our closet installation is close to 20' from where we keep the remote.

Im not sure, I have never experienced any repeater delays. In my basement setup we sit about 15 feet away. Works perfect if we aim the remote at the IR eye. My components are located in an area behind the TV.

Is there any brand of repeater that is better than another - without breaking the bank? We are not looking to spend a lot. Under $50 would be real nice.

Thanks

I have had excellent success with the Hot Link Pro and Xantech IR solutions but both will probably come in a bit over budget
