What's the best thing I can do about reducing the grainy video on the SR12 when indoors without buying bright lights. We have our house lit as much as we want it, so that's not an option. My wife doesn't want a lamp for the camera either, says they're ugly.

I've read that turning off Auto Slow Shutter helps, and I tried this but it didn't seem to have any effect. Is there anything else that can be done, or does this camera simply suck indoors with no outside light (I live in edmonton, in the winter it's dark by 5pm).

Is there any camera (HF11, for example), that perform better in this area?

You can try setting the scene mode to "Twilight". That will limit the grain, although if the house is too dark, the video will be dark too. I find it works OK in my house with nomal room lighting.

Ya I've tried a few of those settings. Spotlight has had some success too. Sunset and Sunrise look very warm with that orange glow added.
