Hey all, I bought a replacement lamp for my hc3000 mits off Ebay. Seller had perfect rating... but the box said "use by 9/11/2008"

Are there really exp. dates on these lamps and should I write the seller and bitch? thanks!

given that is is a functionally a glorified lightbulb i would guess it shouldnt be a problem...

UHP lamps contain a special atmosphere (halogens and argon) under high pressure. Maybe the seals of the lamp are not perfect, limiting the shelf life?
