View Full Version : STEP BROTHER Blu Ray 12/2/08 release
musicfann 11-14-08, 07:54 AM Oh well, here comes another Will Farrell film.
I'm a fan, but this guy's "hit and miss", "shot gun" approach to his career, gets me down sometimes.
"Stranger Than Fiction" proved he could be a serious actor, but what I don't get is "WHY", someone in the Hollywood Hills thinks this guy is bankable...it seems, FOREVER ?
Does this guy make money or is he SO CONNECTED, he can make film projects, of the same type, one after the other, cranking them out, seemingly, FOREVER ?
It was nice to see someone wising up to Rick Schnieder, FINALLY, and cutting this guy off his gravy train ! Is Will Farrell next ?
Another_Dude 11-14-08, 12:21 PM Rob Schneider?
Will Farrell gets greenlit for movies because they make money.
NO RICK SCHNEIDER, ;)
This movie rocks! WTF are you guys talking about
curtishd 11-14-08, 03:07 PM The red band trailer for Step Brothers looks funny and i agree his movies are hit or miss but look at the budget for his films, no CGI or huge expenses for special effects like other movies other than the actors pay. For Step Borthers the budget was about $65,000,000 and gross revenue $124,568,112 so lots of money is being made and that is before the home release on DVD, PPV, BR, and downloads.
I seriously loved this movie. One of my December must-haves. Tropic Thunder, Pineapple Express, Step Brothers, etc. All day-one purchases for me. I think Will Ferrell has a lot of funny movies, and if it's on blu-ray odds are I own it :).
mzupeman 11-14-08, 07:14 PM The first half of this movie was great, the second half was a big freakin' mess. BIG freakin' mess.
Jay Mammoth 11-14-08, 08:50 PM This movie is hilarious day one buy for me.
The first half of this movie was great, the second half was a big freakin' mess. BIG freakin' mess.Oh I agree, when I watched it in theaters I thought the second half got derailed, but it was still humorous, and I still enjoyed it a lot in the end.
crunchyfrogs 11-15-08, 11:49 AM I enjoyed it but I felt it ran a bit long...not sure I need it on blu-ray...
ballen420 11-17-08, 03:58 PM I watched this the other night and it may be his worst movie yet. It would be a funny skit, but terrible movie. Should have ended about 30-40 minutes into it.
shadowrage 11-17-08, 11:25 PM Apatow related movies always have so many extras. It's kind a pathetic that all of his movies have more and better extras than The Dark Knight.

This was the 2nd funniest comedy of they. Funniest and probably better than Knocked up and Sarah Marshall, Tropic Thunder, was Role Models. The trailers made it look like a generic movie. I laughed the entire runtime. Go see Role Models.
John C. Reily kicks ass. "Are you here for the job interview?" "We're here to f$#k s!*t up!". Oh man I loved this one. And he has one of the best sex scenes ever.:p
I can't believe what happened to the drum set? It was so rude.
Ralph Potts 11-18-08, 01:41 PM Greetings,
This arrived yesterday. I watched it last night and technically it looks fine. Not much of a movie but does have a few chuckles...
Review to follow for those interested.
Regards,
I am excited about this one... :)
solidgator 12-02-08, 11:59 AM Anyone bought this from Target? In their ad it says that it comes with a digital copy. From everything I've read, only the 2-disc dvd version comes with the digital copy. So I'm trying to figure out if it was just a misprint in the ad or whether Target has some sort of exclusive. Plan on buying this at Bestbuy (rewards, also need to pick up a few other titles there), but I would get it at Target if it has the dc. Thanks
btw: hilarious movie, one of my alltime favorite comedies

It's really sad how often that can be said for many of these recent releases. :(
There's quite a few movies that could have been huge, possibly classics, if they could have only had a good ending.

The copy I received yesterday (purchased at Tower.com) does not have a digital copy. Can't say I've ever used the digital copies anyways. I'm guessing it's a Target misprint. A digital copy would be an odd "exclusive" to have over bonus features or collectible packaging. The only way to be certain would be to see if their Blu-ray is a 3-Disc set (3rd disc would be the digital copy).

I agree that a digital copy would be an odd exclusive and that dc's in general are kinda pointless. However for a movie like this where plot isn't that important but there are so many hilarious scenes, it would be great for watching in short intervals on the bus ride downtown to work. Also dc's are very conveinant for trips out of town since I can watch them on my laptop. I may just end up renting the dvd and making my own itunes digital copy.
shadowrage 12-02-08, 02:32 PM The 2 Disc dvd set comes with a Digital Copy. The BD doesn't have one. It would have been nice if Target could have used a different picture for each one.
But because of their mistake I am compelled to go to the store and have them pull the DC out of the DVD and give it to me with the BD. I'll even bring my own sleeve.;)

:) would love to try that too, but I highly doubt they would ever do it and I know I couldn't create a big enough scene to make them give in.
