Good day everyone. I have an LPX-510 projector on a carada screen. I was using a yamaha RX-V2500 receiver with the component outs directly to my projector. The LPX510 has several different aspect ratios to choose from and I never had a problem choosing any of them.

I have recently upgraded to a Pioneer Elite VSX94TXH receiver and I am now using the HDMI out to my projector. Now, for some reason, I cannot change the aspect ratio. The ratios are just greyed out and I cannot select them from the remote or the projector.

I understand that if a signal is sent to the projector, that the projector will choose the "best" aspect ratio for the picture. However, this means when I am viewing a 2.35:1 movie, I get a skinny picture. This creates some black spaces on the top and bottom of my screen.

What do I need to do so I can select a different aspect ratio? I have reviewed as many different settings as I can and I cannot find anything.

I own an LPX 510 and the only time I cannot change aspect ratios is when my blu-ray or upconverting player is doing the upconverting via hdmi. The only way around this is to send your projector a 480i signal and let the 510 do the upconversion to 720p.
