I live en Denmark and can check it out, if you can wait a couple of days, until the release date 19-11-2008 ?
Sporadic 11-15-08, 02:40 AM That is definitely a B region logo on the back.
I have AnyDVD so region codes don't bother me. How much would that be in dollars from axelmusic?
Henke007 11-15-08, 08:48 AM Its also released in Sweden next week a definite buy..

If they have done a good job on the transfer, sure.

According to google around $43.
In google search just type 249.95 DKK to US dollars.
msgohan 11-16-08, 01:26 PM I'm scared of what Disney's domestic release would look like, let alone this overseas offering. I saw the Miramax promo on "Smart People" yesterday and they actually upconverted what looks like a VHS pan & scan master with black bars on the sides for a couple movies. That and the ever-wonderful Gangs of New York intercut with amazing-quality footage like Kill Bill...

I have seen like a minute from this BR and the PQ is EXCELLENT for a movie this old. Now is finally the time to actually SEE the movie :D
Thunderbolt8 11-16-08, 06:30 PM are there any known cuts? like for example
"Although uncut in UK cinemas, the video versions were all reframed to remove the sight of the needle piercing John Travolta's arm. This reframed version is the one which was also shown on network TV (BBC 2)."
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110912/alternateversions
Just gone through the motions of buying this and it comes out at £33 (GBP) which is a bit too much for one movie.
I'll wait for a UK/US release and would expect to pay half that.
The HD version of Pulp that was running around Showtime about a year ago was phenominal. As good as I've seen on a broadcast flick of it's era. INK-like blacks, tons of color and detail. So near perfect elements are available.
Matt_Stevens 11-18-08, 03:27 PM Yes, the 2.35:1 HD transfer of Pulpshown on cable was glorious. Absolutely stunning.
The cropped version on HBO was a joke.
But will it work in most of the players over here?
Vincent Pereira 11-19-08, 12:37 AM I have seen like a minute from this BR and the PQ is EXCELLENT for a movie this old. Now is finally the time to actually SEE the movie :D
You mean a movie from the Dark Ages- a.k.a. the fabled 1990s- can actually look GOOD??? Who would've thought!!!
Vincent
Sporadic 11-19-08, 02:38 AM *If this type of talk isn't allowed please just delete my post or PM me and I'll remove it. I feel like it's relevant since nobody actually has the disc yet. I am planning to order the disc as soon as I work out some issues I'm having with AxelMusic so no worries on that front.*
Well, the "scene" got ahold of this title and released a 720p rip. I downloaded part of it and took some screenshots with VLC. Remember this is not from the actual disc (I imagine that they compressed it) but it should give everybody an idea on how the real deal will look.
Some good news is that it is 2:35:1 and the disc may come with English subs.

marine92104 11-19-08, 03:25 AM Did anyone ever find out if it is region free. I'd like to import this to the U.S. since it's not available here.
luigionlsd 11-19-08, 03:50 AM The 720p rip looks great, but has anyone gotten the disc and/or had a chance to confirm enforced regions?
This rip looks unbelievable.
KeithTalent 11-19-08, 10:42 AM Holy crap, looks awesome! I can't wait to get my hands on a Blu copy. I think I'll try to wait for a North American release, but boy is it tempting to order this.
Good to see a pic of a scene with my man Tim Roth there!
I will just wait.... We made it this long...
Thunderbolt8 11-19-08, 02:35 PM the rip looks indeed good, that to say that it can be done still somewhat better.
regarding that scene, looks like a bit zoomed in as well here?
edit: no, luckily its not, compare here: http://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittbericht.php?ID=807
(its a german site, but you only need the pics anyway; actually a good site to see which parts got cut of movies)
eric.exe 11-19-08, 02:44 PM I checked out that scene reencode and heard a light hiss of background noise when there no audible sounds. This noise was not present in the DTS from the DVD I compared it to. I checked with headphones though, might not be noticeable with speakers. (The core is extracted from the master audio, so it's not the scene screwing things up).
The video transfer used is definitely the one that has been floating around on HDTV channels for quite some time. Pretty decent looking.
msgohan 11-19-08, 04:14 PM Ordered on the basis of those screencaps!
Wonders of the Internet, I paid $49 USD to a company in Denmark from my couch on the basis of screencaps taken from a rip some teenager probably did. :)
My second-most expensive import behind the upcoming T2 Japanese LE Blu-ray.
EDIT: Hey look, it's my one-year anniversary of HD-dom!
Thunderbolt8 11-19-08, 04:29 PM you have a couch next to your computer? or notebook? :P

Anybody know the ETA for the US release?
Just got mine. AVC, DTS-HD MA, works on my A PS3 (BD drive is busy right now but that should be confirmation enough). No English subs but you can turn the European selections off.
EDIT: Yup, definatly region free.
Brajesh 11-20-08, 11:33 AM Been a while since I watched 'Pulp Fiction'. Aren't there English subs in some scenes? Trying to recall if they were used in a jokey/fun way? Basically, are English subs needed or not?

Excellent. So your PS3 is region A? I'm tired of waiting for this and have a friend who's n ever seen it, if you can believe that.
If you could get some screenshots and give a review, that'd be great!

how do you rate the PQ?
Anybody know the ETA for the US release?Miramax says 8/4/09.

Jebus, what the hell? I can't believe I'll have to wait almost another year for this?
Depending on what House says here I may just need to go ahead and order this from overseas.
DCSholtis 11-20-08, 04:17 PM I added it to an order I already had placed at axelmusic for In Bruges. Can't wait for both to show up.
eric.exe 11-20-08, 06:18 PM US buyers: total charged to my credit card was $39.56 w/ shipping when I bought it a few days ago (Denmark's 25% tax comes off when you put in a non-Denmark address).
marine92104 11-20-08, 09:46 PM Thanks guys for the info. I just ordered it from Axelmusic.
Anyone know the average shipping time from them if you live in the U.S.?
I live in California.
I wasn't sure how they shipped & the average shipping time.
Brajesh 11-21-08, 07:59 AM Any other interesting Blu exclusives in Denmark?

In Bruges is being released in December in the Nordic countries.
Looks like it could be a bit too smooth for my tastes. I'll wait for either a better or a cheaper edition.

I was just thinking the same thing. I'll wait. It'll be $20 on Amazon once it's out in the U.S.
Thunderbolt8 11-24-08, 03:21 PM DNR'ed
but still the best PQ available :S
djnsmith7 11-24-08, 03:47 PM This is a must have for my collection...Always loved this movie...Wish I didn't have to wait til next August for it...
UxiSXRD 11-24-08, 05:01 PM You don't, you could import it. ;)
Beta Tester 11-24-08, 05:05 PM Uma Thurman dancing to the Neil Diamond score is one of those special moments that are permanently ingrained in my memory.:D
I will buy the blu-ray regardless of how awful the PQ and AQ is, as long as it is better than the DVD. There are not many titles that I will do this for.

Same here, one of my favourite movies. I did it for Reservoir Dogs and I'll do it for Pulp Fiction, though of course I'm hoping it will be visually and aurally stunning.

I thought the RD Blu-ray was great. I will have PF in a day or so. Hopefully it is as good or better than the RD disk, but I fear DNR has taken its horrible toll.

Don't get me wrong, I think the RD Blu-ray looks great and is miles above the VHS and DVD copies I already own, I was just hoping for a little more. I've watched the Blu-ray about 50 times or so and I am not really upset with the transfer or anything, but I do hope PF takes things a little bit further as I was not really blown away with the PQ of RD. Either way I'll be buying the PF Blu-ray without hesitation.
Saw some more shots elsewhere. It's definitely been scrubbed completely clean, and seems devoid of even the slightest trace of grain. Just FYI.

I have never seen Pulp Fiction either but always wanted too, HD/&Blu-Ray is the only reasons I even watch movies now, I was not really a movie fan before HD/&Blu-Ray, I know that sounds crazy but its true, I always liked watching things in real time because I hated acting because its fake, but HD/& Blu-Ray spoiled me with PQ, for some reason I only buy Blu-Ray's with the best PQ
if the Pulp Fiction Blu-Ray transfer is good i'll buy it too
The video transfer used is definitely the one that has been floating around on HDTV channels for quite some time. Pretty decent looking.
the scene source isn't an HDTV broadcast - it's from the European BD.
At least the ESiR one is that just came out. There's also a release from SiNNERS 11 days ago but I don't have that one.
I have a HBO early 2006 HD airing of this and it has the same soft look. So it is either supposed to look like that or it was DNR'd way back then.
Never thought I'd be ordering from Denmark. But I just did. PF is one of my favorites.

u can blame that on the birate starved HBO HD
AUS1969 12-01-08, 09:06 PM I just got it, and had quite a fright...with an LG 200, at least, it's necessary to use the "title" button to view with no subtitles. The "subtitle" button won't work - it just provides a choice between Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish.
I think I will get it. Hopefully it arrives here before Christmas time. SO with it being region free it should work in my players?
I ordered it... My Wife loves this movie so it will make a good Christmas present... ;)

Yep, DNR is on the master. Has been on every airing and release of this movie. It's not too bad though, faces aren't that waxy and detail is good. I don't see Disney/Miramax creating a new transfer for this title with some of the crap they've put out recently. So most likely the US version is going to look identical.

Hmm, those screen shots looks pretty good, actually.
I was expecting a much softer look.
Is that from the scandinavian release?
Henke007 12-02-08, 04:11 PM Will be getting my copy tomorrow from a swedish retailer Discshop.se really looking forward to watching this again in HD. I hope Jackie Brown is in the works for a near future release as well.
It sure looks good on those screens but maybe just a little bit clean i would prefere more natural grain.
Ok, first..dont shoot me for my obvioiusly dumb questions/observations.
1) These screen caps make this movie look great compared to my DVD. Mine looks so bad that I wont allow it on my projector. Isnt this Denmark release 100 times better? How could anyone complain about this release.
2) This is my first question about region zones...I believe I have Region 1. Will this play on a region 1 dvd player?
3) Also, if I cant get this Denmark release for whatever reason....is this release worth getting while I wait for an offical BD US release? Pulp Fiction (Two-Disc Collector's Edition) (1994) released in 2002?
There's no such thing as Region1 for Blu-ray, R1 is a DVD region. The US is Region A for Blu-ray. It took me 2 mins to find this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray#Region_codes) on wikipedia and the first post (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=15074590#post15074590) in this thread mentions this is region free

I think there may be a mix up regarding how regions work.
The company that makes the player (Sony) would be responsible to make sure the CA/NA/SA players are Region A.
The company (Miramax) that releases the movie/disc would control whether the movie is region locked or not (PF is not).
LeBougre 12-03-08, 01:13 PM No english subtitles ? :(
Bogney Baux 12-03-08, 04:58 PM No english subtitles ? :(Correct, no english subtitles.

Vincent Vega: They call it a Royale with Cheese.

No mixup. The pictures of the case clearly show Region B. If they put that on the packaging but didn't actually put the restriction on, I'm ordering it, since I don't want to wait 8-9 more months.
I have a few different Blu ray players including a PS3 so I will test it on them and report which ones it works on...
I received a shipping notice so hopefully it won't be to long. :)

+1. I love Pulp Fiction but I'm totally spoiled by the $10-15 I normally pay for BDs.:D in the U.S.
That's more than I payed for Lost Season 3, Firefly, and Madmen on BD, total.
It is quite a bit but since it is Pulp Fiction that easily justifies it for me. My Wife loves this movie and having it available at Christmas time when her family is visiting is a bonus. If it were almost any other title I would 100% agree with you... :)
tkbryant 12-04-08, 03:12 AM Wow, way better looking than I expected. $50 is a bit much but it's Pulp Fiction. That's still too much. I'd bite at $35.
Is that a DTS-MA track I see in the pics? Must resist, must resist!!

Rathbone 12-04-08, 08:06 AM I watched this disc yesterday. PQ is good, but heavy DNR has been applied. Details look soft and no grain is left. The picture looks very artificial.

Matt_Stevens 12-04-08, 12:56 PM Many older HD transfers from Disney studio companies are heavily DVNR'd right at the master. They need new transfers, which ain't happening. :(
Tom Monahan 12-04-08, 02:37 PM I am tempted to bite but I have this recorded on DVHS from Showtime HD a few years back.
Matt_Stevens 12-05-08, 11:05 AM Same transfer. Just stick with it.
How can it be the same when the Blu ray copy is in 1080p?

He said it was the same transfer, not the same encode.
I would still put my money on the Blu ray version being better than the ShowtimeHD version. I have the ShowtimeHD on my HD DVR and will definitely compare them. I could also transfer it to a DVHS tape and compare as well. Still, having the S5000ES play back the Blu ray copy at 1080p/24 should look better than the 1080i DVHS or DirecTV copy. hough I will say some of my DTHEATER tapes look very good and can hold their own (like I, Robot)... :)

I completely agree. I would be shocked if the Showtime HD looks as good as the blu-ray release especially on a large scope setup. I replace my DVHS recordings with the blu-ray version when it is released and blu always looks better as one would expect. The audio on the Showtime HD pesentation leaves a lot to be desired. I imagine the blu will be a big improvement in that area.

:D
I know 39.00 is a lot for just one title. I usually get around 2 for that price on Amazon but this is Pulp Fiction... :D
circumstances 12-06-08, 09:22 PM i know. i know. :D
I love PF, but an R1 release has to be coming in 2009.
$39 is a bit steep for my tastes.
Tom Monahan 12-07-08, 05:14 PM I got my copy from the link here for $39.00...
Can that site be translated into english?
Thanks,
Tom
Tom Monahan 12-07-08, 05:17 PM I know 39.00 is a lot for just one title. I usually get around 2 for that price on Amazon but this is Pulp Fiction... :D
Those of us like Joe that have/had D-Theater are used to paying this much for one HD movie.;)
Tom

Tom
I'm too damn cheap (on software at least).
Maybe that's why I never bit on D-Theater.;)
I still watch my DTHEATER tapes so I know it was worth the investment. ;)
Here are some pics I just took. On a very happy note this title has played in 4 players so far (including the Insignia unit)... :) Very good to excellent pic Q and I am very satisfied with it. Very good sound to!
I apologize for a couple being a little blurry. This one is hard to get good pics of. Do notice the excellent amount of detail in the last pic...
Tom Monahan 12-08-08, 08:54 PM Did you compare it to the Showtime HD recording? If yes, please share your thoughts.:) Did you try it on a Panny player?
Thanks,
Tom
It definitely has more depth to the image than the Showtime Broadcast. I am glad we have Pulp Fiction on Blu ray now. Screw waiting! :D
I'd pay $100 for it! :D
Shhhhhhh! Don't say that! Do you want the BD industry to hear?
;)
DCSholtis 12-09-08, 01:21 AM And remember In Bruges comes out next week as well....:D
Received my copy today. Took about two weeks from Denmark to Ohio. Gonna fire it up later. I also have a DVHS recording of the Showtime version.
chainsawstorm298 12-11-08, 10:03 PM I just ordered from axelmusic.dk and it doesnt show State in my shipping info it just says my zipcode and City address and Country no state, will i still revieve it ok. thanks looking forward to Pulp Fiction on Blu Ray.
homer716 12-11-08, 10:29 PM zip code is all that is needed. zip codes are not repeated in any 2 states.
Anybody care to post pics of the menu system?
The Menu is so simple. YOu just hit select and it plays the movie fast. Then from there you hit either you title or subtitle button to remove the subtitles. Painless! :) I will list all the players it works with for me tomorrow.
39$ with shipping to the states? I paid 33$ with shipping in Sweden from a swedish retailer so STOP complaining ;)
33$ is the standard price for a BD's here i Sweden. Older BD's can be found for around 25$....

Does this mean that it will work on a PS3 in the US? I want to order this movie, but just want to make sure that it will work correctly.
Thanks!
chainsawstorm298 12-13-08, 10:36 PM Don't Worry i just wanted to make sure too because i just paid $39 for it from a website in Denmark. Can't wait, such an awesome movie

Yes...yes...yes.
It has worked on my PS3, Sammy 1500, Panny BD35, Sony S5000ES, Denon 3800, Pioneer 51FD, Insignia unit and a BETA unit I am testing... I would say it is region free. :D

Ya like Blu-ray players there, son? ;)
ZenAmako 12-16-08, 12:59 PM I noticed DNR and edge enhancement on my 50" LCD. They probably used the same master that was used for the DVD collector's edition. It still looks pretty good (better than an upconverted DVD), but it could definitely look better with a remaster. I think it's likely the U.S. will get the same transfer, however.

chainsawstorm298 12-23-08, 08:03 PM I just recieved Pulp Fiction on Blu Ray from Axelmusic.dk, pretty quick shipping i think. I ordered it on 12/12/08 and recieved it today 12/23/08. I live in Florida. It works great on my PS3.
i Would say good pic quality 3.75~4/5 and audio 4/5. I never had it on DVD but have seen it many times. Great Movie.
Brent Madden 12-27-08, 01:09 PM Broke out my old DVD of Pulp Fiction last night as I hadn't watched it in awhile and in addition to the PQ looking like crap(I'm totally spoiled by Blu-Ray now), about halfway through the disc started skipping and freezing up. I got so pissed off that I just went ahead and ordered the Blu-Ray from Axelmusic.dk. Normally I would never pay $39 for a single disc, but as others have said this IS Pulp Fiction.
suffolk112000 12-27-08, 08:15 PM Wow... got to hold out on this one.
Of course if I ordered it now, the way my luck goes, it would come out here in the US in a matter of a few days.
danieledmunds 12-28-08, 09:56 PM Just got this, considering the age of this movie I think the picture quality is incredible. I am suprised people have given this such a luke-warm reception, I am very happy indeed!
sanderdvd 12-30-08, 03:40 AM how about the scene when Travolta and Jackson come out of the elevator in the beginning of the movie and are having the 'foot massage' (GREAT dialog! ;)) discussion? On the Showtime Broadcast the sound was awefull. How is this on the BR release?
kennerado 12-30-08, 03:50 AM Seemed fine to me.
Thats a pretty funny scene and great camera work.
danondorf 12-30-08, 04:13 PM Received this yesterday. Watched it, great Blu-Ray.
Very sharp and clean image; really nice detail.
Anyone who is a fan of QT films can't go wrong with this one.
:)
Brent Madden 12-30-08, 05:55 PM Axelmusic just sent me an e-mail yesterday saying mine has shipped. Can't wait to check it out.
All scenes in the movie played with excellent audio and good to great visuals. :)
Sherardp 01-02-09, 08:51 PM Ordered a copy from Axel however my shipping costs to Japan were a tad bit more.
To get it this early it is worth it... ;)

You ordered your copy yet?
Oh yeah! Had in now for a few weeks or more... Looks great!
Wow, way better looking than I expected. $50 is a bit much but it's Pulp Fiction. That's still too much. I'd bite at $35.
Is that a DTS-MA track I see in the pics? Must resist, must resist!!

SlaughterX 01-05-09, 02:10 PM I think I should just turn my BD-ROM into Region B. I know you only have os many times to do this, but how do they detect it, is it in your registry info in Windows are is t something in the actual drive that saves it (meaning that even if I reformat my PC it will be stuck in a single region if I change it too many times)?

Can anyone translate?

I am seriously tempted to order that Blu-ray, $40 price tag notwithstanding.
I don't think I can wait until September 2009 when it is scheduled to be released in the US.
I don't plan that far ahead.
UxiSXRD 01-06-09, 07:35 PM This finally arrived last night. I was amazed at how good it looked, as I guess my expectations were pretty low. Sounds great, too on the high res DTS-HD. Thanks It's there but it's not really that distracting. The faces aren't completely turned to wax. Everyone just looks a little pastier than they should. I'd give it a 5 or 6 on the DNR-O-Meter. 1 being DNR free, 10 being Zulu.
Didn't bother me at all. :)
There's zero grain on my 50" panny plasma. There are consistent moderate EE halos throughout. I can't say it doesn't bother me, because unfortunately I've learned to be aware of them, but I like the movie so much I can live with it. The transfer seems very solid artifact wise. On the whole, it's a vast improvement on the SD, but not what it could have been.
I can't wait for it to be released domestically to see what kind of arguments here it inspires :D

You get it straight from the source for $39 shipped so I'd say there's no way it's worth it. I definitely think $20 more than $20 it will likely be as a domestic catalog release here is worth it to beat it by months, though. :)
Especially when it only takes the source a week or so to get it to you.

Tom
UxiSXRD 02-06-09, 04:16 PM Can go to the pop-up menu and turn them off that way, too.
I am not familiar with getting imported versions of movies, but I have to say that Pulp Fiction was one of the first DVD's I purchased when I bought my first DVD Player (Sony, which still is going strong) back in 98ish sometime. Well, that transfer sucked pretty back (along with Goodfellas). This is the first time I have come across a title that "I must have a better transfer of"...
so I ask, if I wait for the US version, with the transfer quality be the same or is it likely this one is better? Or is it just a matter of not wanting to wait until the US version is released?
Also, why would an American released movie have a Blu-ray release from Denmark earlier than the US release???
One more....currently Amazon is selling an imported version for 39.49...is this the Denmark version?
Tom Monahan 02-22-09, 05:20 PM Did amazon even get this title in on the 17th? I pre-ordered but now it says 7 to 10 days.

Same here, I pre-ordered on the 29th of January and it said it would be delivered on the 23rd of February. Now it says March 4-6th...I'm fine with waiting but I have been wondering if anyone received their copy from Amazon.
CRT Dude 02-23-09, 05:32 AM If Disney wouldn't remaster Gangs of NY then I doubt this will get one. Disney also releases less catalog movies so someone releasing this before Disney isn't unlikely. Word is Disney is going to sell Miramax (to get $ for Dreamworks I think) so hopefully Sony picks them up so we can get the same quality and more releases.
HDwatcher 02-26-09, 07:32 AM Amazon just updated their page saying it will be released March 24.

Thanks so much for sharing that info Joe!!!!!!!!!!
I was unsure about this and didn't want to watch it with forced subtitles since my remote has no "subtitle" button. Instead of waiting to the 24th for Amazon I should just import this great film.
Thunderbolt8 02-26-09, 07:27 PM seriously, you never came to the idea to check out the menu section by yourself, never ever for a movie into the languages field (not that it might have been needed but just of curiosity)?

I don't own this blu-ray import movie yet so how can I check the menu?????? I have heard of some imports that don't allow you to turn of the subtitles in the menu so that explains the concern I had. Seriously, know what the hell you are talking about before you make a sarcastic post like that. Reading comprehension must be a weakness of yours.
servo_t 02-28-09, 12:01 AM Not that the import looks bad (I don't know since I haven't seen it), but the US version should be worth the wait. Disney is having a block of several Miramax films "restored," with Pulp being the one of the bunch from a higher resolution source than the others.

I know there's zero credibility here, but the old "friend of a friend" deal. Proprietary info and all. It's cool if no one believes with only 2 posts (I'd have my doubts too), but there's a reason for that. Just thought I'd share anyway.

Vincent Vega82 05-03-09, 10:59 AM I have a quick question about the version of Pulp Fiction (Blu-ray) to be released on August 4 2009 in the U.S. I looked at the specs somewhere and it said that this movie wasn't filmed/won't be released in a widescreen aspect ratio only (2.40:1). Does anyone remember seeing this in the theater? Was it 2.40:1 or was it a version of widescreen? I've been waiting for this to come out since the launch of Blu-ray but, thought it wasn't in 4:3. Can anyone please help with how it will be released? How is 2.40:1look on a 16X9 tv? Still bars on top and bottom or sides or full picture? Thanks for the help this is my favorite movie of all time. I don't know how this didn't win best picture!!!!!! Sorry mods, it wouldn't let me post in the correct area.
mumbles3k 05-03-09, 11:37 AM PULP FICTION was definitely shot in the scope widescreen format (it's actually 2.39:1, for those of us who like to nitpick). This is how it appears on this release, and that's how it will be on the American release as well.
Scope on a 16:9 TV looks awesome. Yes, there will be black bars on the top and bottom, but it's a small price to pay.

I've looked on Amazon.com but, they have 3 different Pulp Fiction Blu-rays listed. One import and two other ones to be signed up to be notified when it becomes available. Does anyone have a link for me at a place where I can pre-order now? Thanks for the help in advance. I went back a few months back and popped my collectors edition dvd in and I could have sworn that it's in 4:3 for some reason. On another note I don't know what picture beat Pulp for best picture but(Forest Gump????), this just goes to show you how idiotic the Academy is. There are so many nuances in the movie and that is what makes it great. There is no movie ever made that is better than PF, except for Inglorious Basterds (from what I hear).

I just bought the Swedish release the other day for $45 at a local video store. It's Region "B" and is listed as 2.35:1 and the only audio track is DTS-HD in English.PQ and audio are both flawless. There are no extras except several Scandanavian language subtitle options.
Vincent Vega82 05-04-09, 03:19 PM I used to be on that other website about Blu-ray's but, got banned for saying(with expletives), that No Country for Old Men and There Will be Blood couldn't hold a candle to Pulp Fiction. Which I still believe to this day.
Thunderbolt8 05-04-09, 04:22 PM import the french version and not the nordic one. better PQ (no english subs though)
eric.exe 05-04-09, 04:25 PM The French version is locked to region B and has forced French subtitles when the English track is selected.
Thunderbolt8 05-04-09, 04:49 PM well, thats too bad then :S
Vincent Vega82 05-04-09, 10:12 PM I'd just like a place that I can pre-order the U.S. version that is coming out in August. I'm surprised that Amazon doesn't have it up for pre-order yet.

I don't know how movies like that win yet Pulp doesn't. Did Forest Gump beat it that year? I wish they would look back and see that Forest Gump is no where near as good of a movie. Fools, Fools.

When is the US release for Blu-ray coming?
JiffOrange 08-03-09, 12:23 PM I used to be on that other website about Blu-ray's but, got banned for saying(with expletives), that No Country for Old Men and There Will be Blood couldn't hold a candle to Pulp Fiction. Which I still believe to this day.
They are all good movies but for completely different reasons, don't get me wrong Pulp fiction is one of my favorate movies of all time but I appreciate No country for old men & There will be blood. Can't say much on the french one but I have the nordic one & its the best I have ever seen it looking & sounding (actually I would buy it for sound alone :D).
Cheers,
Jiff

Because we have an expectation that you'll use the search engine before starting a new thread. Using the search this rather large thread comes up about the US release etc. If you want an update, please bump the existing thread on this title.

Hurry up and release the freaking BD.
Tom Monahan 08-30-09, 05:48 PM Anyone know if the release from Sweeden's coveris in english? The online store I am ordering it from shows a picture of the cover in english but I don't know if it is just a stock photo.
Thanks,
Tom
DavidHir 08-31-09, 09:31 PM If anyone's interested, I have a review up for the French steelbook of Pulp Fiction:
http://www.blu-raydefinition.com/reviews/pulp-fiction-steelbook-fr-blu-ray-review.html
w/ HD screen captures, of course. ;)
Those screen shots look less DNR'd compared to the other releases I've seen.

This is the actual cover: http://english.megastore.se/template/next%2CProduct.vm?itemid=2039300
It's a Denmark-Sweden-Norway-Finland release. English title with foreign text on the rest of the cover.
As I said in a post up above and elsewhere, I don't recommend it. Perhaps wait on the Australian release.
rboster 09-01-09, 01:30 PM msgohan or anyone with the french version...
can you tell me if the forced subtitles are within the image, the letterboxing or both?
Thanks
Ron
msgohan 09-01-09, 07:36 PM It's the typical setup where one-line captions are in the bar and two-line captions are half-in half-out.
Here's screenshots of the subs and the menu taken with TotalMedia Theater:

shingdaz 10-01-09, 05:59 PM I'm thinking of getting the just released Denmark copy...does anyone know if it's forced dutch subtitles? Or does it play in English 5.1 off the start?
I havn't heard much about a North American release of this, and don't want to wait till next year sometime to get it.

chainsawstorm298 12-19-09, 07:19 PM I just recieved Pulp Fiction on Blu Ray from Axelmusic.dk, pretty quick shipping i think. I ordered it on 12/12/08 and recieved it today 12/23/08. I live in Florida. It works great on my PS3.
i Would say good pic quality 3.75~4/5 and audio 4/5. I never had it on DVD but have seen it many times. Great Movie.
I like how everyone says they will just wait for Pulp Fiction to come out on Blu Ray in the U.S. but i bought the Danish import Blu Ray from axelmusic.dk and have been enjoying it for a year now. I have had it since December 2008. Everyone who said oh i will just wait til August of 2009 for the U.S. release must be kicking themselves because it is now December 19, 2009 and there is still no release date for this damn movie in the U.S.

I don't mind waiting for a potentially better transfer at half the price you purchased it. So, no...I'm not kicking myself.

Most people are probably fine with having waited. They're probably living their lives instead of kicking themselves over, you know, one movie.
stoferr 12-26-09, 02:58 PM Its weird, we danes have had this american movie on Blu Ray for an year now, while the americans themselves, have to wait, even now... Anyone knows how this can be?

Surprising that they didn't release PF and JB at the same time as Inglourious Basterds.
