I am in the market for a new remote and Ive been looking at the q50. Important items to me are RF, Z-Wave support, extensive database with regular updates and the ability to program myself. Also would like it to be able to sense whether components are on or off (variables?) I am not adverse to pay an installer for programming but I want the ability to tweak and tinker myself. I have been reading lot and think the Q50 covers it all but not sure about the variables or the database? Any comments? or recommendations?

BTW: I would not mind if the installer wants to do the programming online. I dont know how common that is but i know some installers will email the configuration files when they are given the setup, components and details.

Variables are not required to track your devices. If you can use all discrete codes that's not much of an issue but if you need more feedback than that the NevoConnect allows you to connect power sensing and video sensing devices for fool proof operation.

The Nevo database is good but I should also point out that the NevoStudio Pro software will also allow you to enter commands from HEX codes so if you find updated codes for any Pronto or RTI remote they'll work on Nevo as well.

Thanks Jim,

Do you have an opinion on Nevo vs RTI? Do you sell these remotes? or do you just do reviews?
