Has anyone come across a comprehensive list of holiday shows/specials that will be broadcast in HD this year?

edit:
I guess I should start compiling a list. Here's what I've come up with:

Polar Express on ABC-HD Friday November 28th 8/7c.

Elf (Will Ferrell) on USA-HD Fri, Nov 28, 8/7c (additional air dates http://www.usanetwork.com/movies/elf/)

I noticed on abc.com they A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving listed as HD. Does this mean theres hope that this year they broadcast my favorite holiday special A Charlie Brown Christmas in HD? For some reason it not even listed on abc.com even though they do have I Want A Dog For Christmas Charlie Brown listed but not in HD.

ABC Family's original movie Holiday in Handcuffs was HD last night.

I expect to see a lot more HD on that channel once the 25 Days of Christmas kicks off.

Technically no, as no model will jump out of a giant gift box and say "happy holidays". But it is designed to get you into their stores and do some serious holiday shopping.

Yep, "Grinch" is one of the few programs that have been shown in 4:3 HD. The only others that I've seen (OTA only) are "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" which is coming back next Monday, and "The Wizard of Oz" on the WB almost exactly three years ago, and still on my DVR.

I wonder if the "Peanuts" classic specials will get remastered in HD like "Grinch" was.

ABC edited the hell out of the Grinch tonight; so many great scenes were cut out for the sake of more advertisement. Your right, it ended on the right time, I wondered too if something got cut off from the show but I couldn't remember anything missing. For me Comcast, this was not in full widescreen but I still think it was high def, I still had some side black bars but not as much as standard def black bars, so I still think it was true HD because the clarity was amazing here, there were times I could see the hairs on Rudolphs fur move during shooting lol, also first time I noticed that the humans only had 4 fingers and why did the humans like Santa, Kermie and the head elf have hands that looked dirty? LOL The color of there hands didn't match the color of their face. Ha, gotta love HD.

The puppets were manipulated for months for the stop-motion photography, and I guess the animators didn't wash their hands before touching the puppets. You will notice that the dirt level varies throughout the show. I guess the dirtier puppet hands were from the end of the production.

After removing commercials, my recording of last night's broadcast clocks in at 48:00 minutes flat. My DVD recording from 2006 (similarly edited) is 49:30. So unless I slipped when editing, a minute and a half was trimmed this time around. That seems about right, because I distinctly remember the credits going well beyond the end of the hour before.

HGTV Camps Out for Tournament of Roses Parade

Net Sets Live Coverage of Annual New Year's Day Tradition

By Larry Barrett -- Multichannel News, 12/4/2008 2:30:00 PM

HGTV will provide live coverage of the 120th Tournament of Roses Parade Thursday, Jan. 1 starting at 11 a.m. ET.

Cloris Leachman, recently of Dancing with the Stars fame, will serve as grand marshal for the “Hats Off to Entertainment”-themed parade.

Guest host Jann Carl and other HGTV personalities will highlight every float, equestrian unit and marching band. Shot in high definition and simulcast on HGTV and HGTV HD, the parade will cover the legendary five-and-a-half mile parade route down Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California.

Carl, best known as the weekend co-anchor and correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, will once again join returning favorites, gardening expert Paul James and veteran television producer/host Robb Weller. Each will provide his own knowledgeable and sometimes quirky perspective on the parade’s magnificent floral floats.

HGTV’s Chi-Lan Lieu also will return as a roving reporter, interviewing various float riders and band members exclusively for the network.

HGTV’s comprehensive coverage will include a special appearance by Genevieve Gorder whose new series, Dear Genevieve, premieres immediately following the parade coverage. Designer John Gidding, from Designed To Sell, will share highlights from the HGTV Dream Home 2009 tour special which premieres later that evening at 9 p.m. ET.

HGTV.com will have additional details about the featured floats, marching bands and high-stepping equestrian units featured in the 120th Tournament of Roses Parade.

Primetime Ratings: CBS On Top With 'Rudolph', Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Fox's "Secret Millionaire" has strong debut

By John Eggerton -- Broadcasting & Cable, 12/4/2008 3:57:00 PM

CBS won a night filled with a bunch of specials and a reality show premiere.

Season classic Rudolph guided the network to a victory in the 18-49 demo, averaging a 4.2 rating/12 share to lead all shows for the night. CBS averaged a 3.4/9, also winning the 10-11 time period with the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (3.6/10).

The only hour CBS didn't win was 9-10. That was claimed by the second hour of Fox's new reality show, Secret Millionaire, in which real millionaires pose as poor folks to gauge who should get a cash windfall our of the millionaire's own wallet/pocketbook.

That show averaged a 2.3/6 in its first hour at 8-9, but grew to a 3/6 at 9-10. Fox was second on the night as a result, just edging out NBC in the demo with a 2.6/7 to NBC's 2.5/7.

The caveat is that these are overnight numbers that could change with the addition of time-shifted viewing.

NBC's top show was Law & Order with a .29/8 at 9-10.

ABC was fourth with a 1.9/5. Pushing Daisies was living up to its name, not registering much of a pulse at a 1.5/4 at 8-9, though up against Rudolph, Millionaire and NBC's Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting spectacular.

The CW was fifth with a .5/1 for an all Stylista night of repeats and originals that ranged from a .4 to a .6.

When shows like Rudolph originally aired, the NAB Code limited prime time "non program material" (commercials and promos) to 9.5 minutes/hour. That meant that a typical hour of primetime programming back then ran 50.5 minutes for the actual show.

Today, 17 minutes of "non program material" (11 minutes of national advertising, 3 minutes of local ads, and another 3 minutes or so of network promos) is typical for primetime. So if you didn't cut the show, but did try to stick the full load of commercials and promos into it, it would run at least seven minutes over the full hour.

Since jtbell reports that this year's run of Rudolph came in at 48:00 with commercials removed, CBS apparently split the difference between the commercial loading standards of the sixties and today -- and cut a couple minutes of the show to make room for those extra commercials.

You people debating the run times who have a dvd or dvd burn and a DVR recording could just run them concurrently, on two devices, and then let us know what you find missing.

Don't miss the MoTab and King's Singers Christmas special on PBS Christmas Eve. The HDTV is fantastic, as is the sound.

Ugh. That Tom Bergeron addendum to The Grinch was insufferable. How about who ever owns the rights to that records a full hour of programming so ABC hacks don't drive me away the minute it's over?

White Christmas on ABC Family HD tonight. It's not Christmas without all the troops marching out to surprise the general.
