Ok so I want to buy a good camcorder that is around 1000. I searched around and found the Canon Vixia HF10. Everyone have really good reviews about it and i really thought i was gonna buy that one. Recently i stumbled upon the Casio EX-F1 which is an amazing SLR camera and a camcorder. I basically don't know which one to choose. Any suggestions?

I have spent more time taking stills than video over the past 40 years or so. So if I had to choose one item only from your list, the Canon Vixia HF10 or the Casio EX-F1, I would get the Casio...

Ya I was leaning toward the Casio that way for the money i can get both a good camera for stills and video. If there are also other better choices around these prices please post it here.

Canon PowerShot S5? http://vimeo.com/1320398 (actually done with the S2)
Canon PowerShot SX10? http://vimeo.com/2257766
Both cameras less than half of the Casio.
It just depends on a lot of factors.

um ya the camera has to be able to make full HD movies. Otherwise there are a lot of good still image cameras for less than that. So shooting movies is the main thing, pictures is second.

i too am looking for a HR camcorder and i want to be able to just plug into my hdtv plasma and play clips. also easy DVD movie making w/ editing as well.
i am guessing i need a hard drive, 60 gig should be fine cause i think 6 hours on high quality should be fine for most weekend warriors like myself...
thoughts?
