I want to record HD from a sat box. In order to this I believe I am going to pick up the Happaggue 1212. This should connect to my pc and store the files there. I now want to be able to send those files to a RPTV with Component and a tube tv with RCA. I also have a PJ that has a xbox360 that should just be able to act as an extender on its on.

My question now is what should I get to be able to play the files from the pc that the 1212 captured to the other two tvs? Do both tvs need their own extender? Or can I get an extender that will connect to both.

If there are any other questions please ask me and I can answer to get this solved up.

I do not want to go to a pvr as I want access on all three tvs.....

Clipse, why are you starting a new thread, that asks the same question(s) you are in the other one? You're not a new member, you should know better.

I know I told you I'm no expert on PVR, but there are some questions I have about your set-up. OK, one, as I said in the other post, the Hauppauge 1212 cannot connect to your PC either through a wired or wireless network connection; it's USB, which means (unless you have an in-wall run of USB, which would seem unlikely) the PC, 1212, and RPTV will need to be in the same room. Is that what you have in mind?

Now you say you also want to be able to play those files on a second TV; the tube TV with RCA. So think of it this way: you have (because you'd have to) your PC, the 1212, and the RPTV all in one room. Even if you get another 1212, how do you think the files on that PC...let's say the RPTV is in the Family Room...will get to the 1212 attached to the tube TV (say in a bedroom)? Again, you would need to have a USB cable to attach it to the same PC that is in the room with the RPTV.

As for the XBox 360, if the 1212 will "send files to it" at all, it either would need to connect to it through yet another USB cable, from one room to another, or the XBox 360 would likely be able to play the 1212's H.264 recorded files...but again, how does it get them from the PC that is storing them, where the RPTV is?

I know you're a noob, and I'm not trying to be harsh or discouraging, but you do need to realize that you need some kind of method of transport to get a file from one place to another. If you want to have the PC that stores in one room, a 1212 with the RPTV in another, a 1212 with the tube tv somewhere else, and the XBox 360 in yet another location, you need to think about how they all talk to each other.

This is why most streamers are networkable, and can receive these files all across the house, through either a wired or wireless ethernet connection. I know you've fallen in love with the 1212, but the fact that it is not networkable, and only connects through USB, sounds like a real deal-breaker for what you want to do.

Sorry :(

I made the thread as I thought I had branched off from the original question but I think I actually got a little confused with what I wanted and the direct. I need to read your post more in detail and the post in the other thread....
