Hello.

I've been following several threads on here, however would be interested in people offering suggestions on the following projectors. I understand that there is a price difference...but would be willing to go to the higher end...if it were justified.

I'll be upgrading from a Sony VPL-VW11HT (quite high-end at the time). It's still a great machine...but just can't ignore 1080P and HDMI any longer.

So, the machines that I've been looking at (in order of price) are:
- Sony VPL-VW60
- JVC DLA-RS10
- JVC DLA-RS20
- Sony VPL-VW70

The unit will be installed into a dark, dedicated home theater. I've always preferred LCD and LCD-based) technology to DLP.

I was also considering making the move to CineScope, but I am sure that they will soon be making the projectors with integrated 2.35:1 lenses...which is also the reason I am looking at these units versus the Sony VW200. At this price-point, I figure I can then justify buying a new unit when they are capable of doing 2.35:1 out of the box.

So...I appreciate anyone who continued reading to this point...and would appreciate it even more if you could offer any advice/suggestions on the units that I currently have under consideration.

Thank you.
Ryan.

any of these units will be an immediately noticeable improvement over the 11ht.
i just replaced my 10ht with a vpl-hw10 and it was certainly worth the wait.
absolutely love the very easy to use lense shift (both vertical and horizontal)
which were not available on the 1Xht family.

featurewise, the only step up from the hw10 to the vw60 or vw70 is the ability
use the whole panel for 2.35:1 with an external anamorphic lense.

if sony hadn't been enforcing their SURE pricing on the 60's (and the 70 as well),
i would have picked up the vw60 demo unit at my local dealer.

Since the Sony VPL-VW11HT you now have is a LCD projector and you are thinking of getting into 2.35:1, why not add the Panasonic PT-AE3000 to your list, as it will do 2.35:1 at less cost than the projectors in your list.
Another suggestion would be to go for a Mitsubishi HC5500, which is around $2,000, and then, if you want to buy a projector later that will meet you specifications, go for it.

If your consideration goes up to $7K you may be aced out by Sony's new "hard line" on retail (msrp) pricing. The VW-70 is $7999. IMHO, the RS-20 becomes the best go-to recommendation. No doubt, the VW-60 and RS-1 were great head-to-head competitors, and I think that the VW-70 MAY be a technical equivalent competitor to the RS-20 (and not to beat a dead horse/msrp., but Sony is shooting itself in the hoof !) ;)
In review, go with the JVC RS-20 at a discounted price off msrp. Translation: Call Jason @ avs. ;)
