Finally got my parents to upgrade their 8 year old dish system to and Dish612 HD DVR. Picture looks good on the HD channels, problem is if you go to a SD channel, you get black borders on all sides of the image, so its still a 4:3 image, but smaller than the rest of the screen. I can adjust the image format on any of the HD channels, but I can't seem to adjust it at all on the SD channels.

The TV itself seems to be pretty limited in regards to the format type, and it seems to be a TV issue to me. Once I plug the receiver into the compenent inputs and it powers up, the TV appears to go into 16:9 widescreen mode. So the menu and everything is automatically in 16:9, which would be fine, if the SD channels would just go full screen. They have the Dish HD (non DVR) on a 32" Hitachi HD CRT set, and it does HD in proper formatting and SD in full screen. I have a Toshiba 32" HD CRT with DirecTV, and the formatting just works no problems.

On the Sony 36XBR450, I have tried all the format settings on the receiver and I just can't get full screen on the SD channels. I am out of ideas on how to proceed, and I haven't been able to find any help with google or after searching the forums here. Can anybody help me out?
