View Full Version : Some Tweeter Stores are going out of business
chiltown 11-17-08, 08:07 AM I visited one of the tweeter stores that is closing yesterday and they are clearing home theater seating for cheap. For example, they had a made in USA leather home theater seat that has a sticker price of $1299 for 70% off.
The only reason I didn't grab them myself, is that I really want to get four seats and the displays only had three. There seating is of much better quality than either Berkline or Coaster and at this price, it is also cheaper.
some? I'm pretty sure they all are.

Please stop.
I've seen those chairs and they are NOT better than Berkline/Coaster.
If you read the tag a little closer, it says "Assembled in USA." Parts made in China.
elmalloc 11-18-08, 09:51 AM I don't know if parts made in china means it's any worse. Maybe in this case, but not all cases?
pete6737 11-18-08, 10:47 AM I was in a Sound Advice store here in Jacksonville Fl, They have display tvs and dusty electronics everywhere, but to me, there are no real deals...10-20 percent discount off a full list price for an out of box dusty component that's been in a rack for 6 months is not a deal to me. Same goes for the two circuit citys closing here. Nothing to get all excited about.
elmalloc 11-18-08, 11:08 AM thehir prices were already marked up anyway.
to me it's not only the economy, but the online presence is going to kill some B&M stores.
chiltown 11-22-08, 04:15 PM OK, if you don't think they are better than Berkline, could you share as to why?
voyeurbill 12-04-08, 03:21 AM The TWEETER store in my area (Manchester Ct) is officially closed. If you have a warranty issue, check with SERVICE NET 812-258-4700 to see if you are on their customer list. If TWEETER didn't send them your name and info, you are out of luck chuck!!:(
pcdoctor 12-04-08, 04:11 AM I though all tweeter, hifi buys and ? were going out of business.
Now the website is not even working.
tlogan6797 12-04-08, 09:52 AM Just saw in the paper yeasterday that originally they were going to close some stores and continue to operate others, but now decided to close all stores.
chiltown 12-06-08, 09:43 AM I was able to purchase a Plasma mount right off the wall for only $20...
pete6737 12-06-08, 02:05 PM Here's a little article about how they jammed the employees at our local Jacksonville store...

oh, I bought 6 tube traps for 80 bucks a piece, retail 600+ each....great deal. I feel bad aboout the employees not getting paid, they worked hard selling stuff in the last month....
hometech99 12-06-08, 02:21 PM I was there Monday and got a $2000 APC S20BLK for $400 and a URC MX-880 $600 remote for $200.
I feel for the employees- but having been in this situation before,I know- i had to wait a year, and only got 35% of my pay.
Willthey open to continue the sale? the phone numbers to the stores are disconnected.
