This happened randomly. When I turn on the unit, you hear it turn on, no picture or sound, the standby light blinks a few times, and then the unit shuts itself off. I heard this may be a defective power supply. Any suggestions?

Did this just happened suddenly? How old is your TV? It sounds like it's broken.

Seriously? It's broken? I thought it was still working...

It happened suddenly one day. The TV is about 3 years old, maybe 4.

I also have a similar samsung (wide screen though) and have heard that the power supplies often fail on them. Mine has not yet (knock on wood)... I priced a power supply for one because mine was making a wine for awhile (mysteriously went way). The cost of the psu itself is not worth it (considering age of tv.. no hdmi, no 1080p, crt is probably much dimmer than new by now, weak power supply so loses beam control with brights). I could have pickup a new wide screen for not vary much more..

Suggestion is to buy a another (better) tv if it is the psu (probably is)
Can always take it to a tv tech (but again cost)
