View Full Version : Recent Epik Tower Shipments?
I was curious how recently anyone has been able to purchase an Epik Tower subwoofer, as they currently show "Out of Stock" on their website.
I've been lurking on this site for a few weeks now researching a new subwoofer to replace my current 12" Polk that I feel just isn't up to the job. At first I was a little put off at the thought of dropping $1099 plus shipping on a sub. But then I started reading up on them and it seems like a lot for the money.... So I started dropping hints to my fantastically cool wife who agreed to my purchase - as long as I sell some of my other toys to pay for it. So I hawked one of my .45 acp's, and have a sale pending on my old sub and Toshiba A-30 HD-DVD player. Looks like its enough to earn me a man-pass.
Needless to say, I was a little disappointed when I saw the out of stock on the Epik Site. I sent a question to their sales department, and Karen @ Epik replied back:
Thanks for your email.
Unfortunately, some of our products are currently out-of-stock.
We have sold through our product much faster than expected and are currently trying to get parts as fast as possible to get them selling again. Unfortunately, we are unable to take orders at this time for these subs or give an estimate of availability, because we do not yet know when we will be able to get the necessary parts and ship them again.
We do at least know that we will not be able to ship out-of-stock products in time for the holidays.
We apologize for this and hope you will consider our other products.
Our Conquest is currently available and we hope to have many new products in the coming months.
Please, let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks again for your email and your continued interest in Epik Subwoofers.
All the best,
Karen

Is this a chronic problem with Epik? Have they even been shipping lately? I want to make sure I'm able to get one of these monsters before some household expense comes up and ruins my man-pass!
Also, for anyone with a tower - do you have any problems with neighbors complaining? I have a detached house with a good 30 feet to my property line. On nights I have the home theater jamming, I can hear my current sub in the back yard, probably not enough we cheese off the neighbor, though. The Tower seems to be in a whole different league....

Epik is a rather new company. They haven't been making commercial subwoofers long enough to have a track record. Tremendous growth this year.
No one can tell you how long it will be before you can get a Tower. There may be people on a waiting list. It could be 2-3 months or more to get a Tower.
Karen already said January at the earliest. I would think that your wife would expect you to take care of any household expense before you buy a new sub (of this price).
You have 2 choices:
1) Save your money and resign yourself to a wait of several months.
2) Choose another sub.
For $999 plus shipping the new SVS PB-12 Plus looks good with the $200 discount for pre-orders.

The Elemental Design A7-350 also has gotten some good word of mouth.

Either of these subs will be a huge improvement over what you have already. The SVS is also (more) attractive.
I wouldn't worry about the neighbors.

I could wait - would rather not. My current sub may be off to its new owner this coming weekend. The thought of being without one for that long is pretty painful.
I appreciate the input on the Elemental Design A7-350. I wonder why I don't see that mentioned more often on this site? The Epik seems to be the proverbial king of the heap. The Elemental has a 1300 watt amp vs the Epik 500 watt - although I realise ratings can be subjective, this is a large difference. Its a really good looking sub - if anyone has had a chance to hear them both and can say the Elemental is within 90% of the Epik, I may have found my new baby! Its cheaper as well, and they cover the shipping.
I'm going to have to sleep on this one....... How long has Elemental been around?
speeeedy 11-17-08, 03:56 PM I placed an order for a tower on 11-4 and less than a week after that they showed out of stock. I guess I got lucky for a change.
My other choice would have been a Ed A7-450. With the free shipping on the Ed it came out to almost the same price.
poolratt 11-18-08, 09:24 AM Dude, Don't Hawk your .45 that's sac religious:D Find another way!
I only hawked one of the .45's - a Springfield XD 5" Tactical. Fear not, there is a method to my madness, as Springfield will be coming out with a .45 version of their new XDm line. Match grade barrel - can't beat that!
I'm still on the fence with the sub decision.....the Elemental Design 350 is looking really good! I'm looking for a reason not to order it - I really wish I could it and the Tower side by side. I SERIOUSLY doubt the wife would let me get both - I fear I will be pushing it as it is when this beast arrives at the front door. ;-) Not to mention when I turn it on and rattle all the paintings off the walls.....
thirdeye11 11-18-08, 02:26 PM Elemental Designs has been around for quite a while. Several years anyway. Some say their customer service is second to none, and others have had problems just like any other company out there. The bad press gets much more attention than the good press.
If I couldn't buy an Epik Tower (which I did buy) I probably would have turned to an SVS, AV123 MFW-15 dual setup, or one of the larger ED's like you're looking at. All have their plusses and minuses.
I keep checking the Epik website.....still not shipping!!! How can they stay in business?? I'm already going to get "the look" when wifey sees how big the tower is, I really don't think I could pull off a Conquest.
I still have my heart set on a Tower, so I'm holding out. The sale on my PolK 12" is on pending until my friend gets more money, so luckily I'm not without any low frequencies.
My big fear is they will be back in stock and then run out in a a few hours before I get a chance to order.

I wouldn't hold out hope for the Tower right now. Epik has already stated it will probably be next year before they can accept new orders for Tower (and other model) subwoofers.
Aurylian 11-26-08, 03:31 PM OTOH, next Summer, you won't even remember the delay. I would decide what you really want and then get it or wait for it. Down the road you have no regrets. If you buy for the immediate need, you will find yourself wishing you would have waited.

Once they get all the parts they need, you should at least be able to place an order. It might just be January or later before you get the Tower. If that is what you really want, you just wait and think about something else. All of this stuff comes back in stock eventually.
