Johnny5.1 11-17-08, 08:43 PM I'm getting a weird juttery non fluid motion on some shots from time to time.

ccotenj 11-17-08, 09:04 PM just tuned in a few minutes ago....
initial impression is that pq is nice and solid... good color, sharp, no pixelation... good turf... looks DARN cold there... typical good espn broadcast...
aq... i am getting an odd "bzzzzz" noise at the beginning of every play? goes into the play for awhile too. not on replays, just live action.
fios, south jersey.

Seems like they cleaned it up. Was getting that before also. Some robotic sound. It seems to be gone now.
Comcast Essex County NJ
EDIT: Spoke too soon. It's back on the punt

yup... robotic is the word for it...
much more sporadic now at least... thank goodness... for a minute there, i thought espn was deciding to throw some fox-style "production enhacements" at us...
ccotenj 11-17-08, 09:13 PM someone needs to tell edwards it's the guys in BLUE uniforms that are on his team... :p
as far as the juttery motion, i saw that a couple of times earlier... almost like they were dropping frames... none any more though...
maybe they are freezing in the truck tonight....
Johnny5.1 11-17-08, 09:29 PM The juttering has stopped, the picture quality is pretty decent. Brady is looking impressive.
mikepier 11-17-08, 09:44 PM Cablevision LI NY
Looks very soft on main shots.
The scorebar on the bottom however looks great
totalownership 11-17-08, 09:45 PM Man these commercials coming in at blast mode needs to be addressed. It's getting ridiculous now with the different sound levels.
ESPN needs to be consistent in blanking the Sportsvision data. Skycam and some replays have the data at the top of the screen while most do not.
Comcast Detroit. Just flipped over in time to catch the TD return, looks very good here. Sound is CS > DD5.1.
Speedskater 11-18-08, 08:19 PM Why do pro football games look better on ESPN than the other networks? I don't notice the collage games looking better. Is it superior equipment or the skill of the people using it?

It's all a matter of opinion. Over time, the consensus here is CBS looks best for football. IIRC, in Cleveland the CBS affiliate degrades the signal using subchannels.
For ESPN, it depends on your provider.

For ESPN, it depends on your provider. Right on Ken. Before CBS WOIO in Cleveland added the weather sub we had a pristine picture. After, the picture is still nice but there is some breakup when the camera pans fast.

I really did not think the game on Monday night looked like anything great. (Cablevision LI NY). So it really depends on the source and provider.
But WCBS has no subs, and I will agree the PQ is great.

Nothing spectacular on D*, but my big pet peeve is that annoying red/black crap and gyrating logo/ESPN MNF at the bottom of the screen wasting space (was a separate thread sometime back).

Very true about the Cleveland CBS station and sub-channels!
But, ESPN pro games look a lot better than their collage games.
