Hi guys,

We use a PS3 as our blu-ray player, and I understand it uses bluetooth technology rather than infra red. So, when you buy the remote control adapter for it, it is still using blue tooth to my knowledge. We recently acquired a Harmony 890 which requires the infra red wires to stick to the infra red receptors on the components. Is there any way to make this work with the PS3? Or will I have to use a separate remote for the PS3?

One thought I had was to buy a third part (i.e. not Sony) remote for the PS3, as they use an infra-red receptor rather than a bluetooth receptor, and then I could put the infra red wires from the 890 onto that. Is there other ways of doing it?

Any insight would be appreciated,

Thanks in advance,

Mark

You can use the nyko blu-wave controller, which includes a little usb dongle that goes on the front of the ps3 and can be controlled w/ harmony. I use this, it cant turn the ps3 on or off but controls most everything else. It is a little slow to respond.

The better option is an ir-bluetooth converter like the ir4ps3, ir2bt, ps3toothfairy or schmartz(sp?). These work better, can turn it on and off etc. Run from 60-150 dollars.

You will need something else to make it work. Like the solutions already mentioned. There's lots to choose from and I'd be happy to help

The IR2BT is discontinued and is now the IR2BTci and is $150.
