Assuming the material isn't copy protected any of the disc types mentioned will work. If the material has been encoded with a copy once bit then RAM discs should work. If it's been encoded with a do not copy bit then none will work unless you install a filter between the VIP DVR and the Panny.
I prefer the - media for Pannys since their more native to a Panny and for brands most people prefer Ty media or maybe Verbatims. Try and avoid the Memorex brand.

Whoa, I think those might be the top of the top of the line discs you could get:)
I've got some Panny RAM discs but not the DS or ones with the cartridge. I've actually never seen one.

I hope they will be what I need to make a copy of local college b.b. game.

RAM discs are great but they aren't as compatible with other players as R or RW discs. If you're just timeshifting and playing back on the Panny you shouldn't have any problems. If you want to archive or have the disc be more universally playable you might want to try some R or RWs(RAMs also excellent for archiving too, they're just more costly).
I really doubt the subject matter you're going to record would be CP'd. I think it's more Pay or PPV channels that would have a chance of copy protection.
Again for R discs I think Ty discs would be considered top of the line and Verbatim RW discs are quite popular for reusable media.
