A couple of years ago I started automating my home theater. This resulted in a program that controls my lighting, show a movie trivia slide show with background music and voice over announcements followed by a random trailer sequence and my main movie.
It integrates with Windows Explorer, MyMovies (MCE plugin) and MediaPortal for quick access.
I'm giving away the base version (slide- and trailershow) for anyone who is interested and it can be downloaded from www.slideshifter.net
I appreciate your feedback.

Does this only work if you use a HTPC to play your movies.

It is not yet indended for people without a media center or HTPC, because the slide & trailer show runs on the PC. However a combination of a PC and a standalone DVD or Blu-Ray player could be used. You can have SlideShifter start a program at the end of the trailer show. This could be a program that send an IR command to your DVD or Blu-Ray player. I do this myself when I want play a Blu-Ray disc with my PS3 (or you could just press play on the remote when trailer show is done).

Or did you mean to have a slide & trailer show without a PC ?

No, sorry, the software only runs on Windows.

How many people would be interested in a slide show recording option, so you can burn it on a DVD or play it on a PS3 or XBox ?

Hey, this is cool!

Finally, every feature I need in one program!

Would there be a discount on the PRO version for AVSForum members, by chance? :D

If you have any feedback on the program, please let me know.

I just ordered it and cant get it to work. I have Windows Media Center 2005 with My Movies. I select a movie and click on Watch, I get the spinning circle thingy and then nothing happens, just stays on the My Movies screen. I use alt-tab to switch between applications, and all I see is a black screen. If I launch a movie from within the SlideShifter app, it starts the slideshow. What piece am I missing to get it to launch from My Movies? (yes I check the My Movies box under settings)

Hi,

I've downloaded the trial, and it looks useful... but I can't find any documentation and there is no "help" available from the program (it says "press f1 for help" but the f1 key does nothing).

I presume I can launch this from the command line, to play a few random trailers then launch theatertek or TMT... if so please tell me how.

Thanks,

Paul
