OK... I spent two months researching and listening to speakers at every possible audio store in and around the area. I thought that was the hardest part of building a home theater. Then I finally decided on Paradigm. Then all I needed to do was find a receiver. Wow another month of research. At least I have it narrowed down to either Denon 2809 or 3808. I should have it all this weekend.

After thought... I need to pick up a remote. Hmm I see the Logitech online a lot. Let me check reviews... I find this as complex to research as the other components. I am exhausted. Any help and direction you can give me would be GREAT!!

I have a 42 inch Sharp LCD, PS3, XBOX360, Wii, Denon (see above) and a Motorola Fios DVR. I am looking to put everything but the TV in the room right behind the wall the TV is on. I was expecting to just use a IR relay to get the signals through the wall. Little did I know I have OPTIONS. I still like the idea of having it behind the wall but RF is a possibility. I was expecting to pay between $150 and $200 for a remote. I like the idea of touch screen but it does not have to be necessary. I can handle programming so a little of complexity up front is fine. It has to be easy to use for the wife. I will pay more if it gains a lot. And to get rid of the relay would save me close to $100. I do not want a remote that only a dealer can update.

Any insight or direction would be awesome. Thanks!
Dan

The cheapest option would be a URC-9910 off ebay and a JP1 cable, totaling around $50. I've used this option for several years. I like the convenience of pc programming and prefer buttons to touchscreens. Next up the scale is probably the URC RF-10, 20 or 30, then the harmony 890 at the top of your budget. Harmony is very popular because it's very easy to setup and use. Just don't expect to do anything fancy like big, complex macros. Another option is get something like the next generation RF system for the IR remote of your choice. If you don't have your heart set on RF, just about any IR repeater will work fine, but you'll have wires to deal with. You can forget about controlling the Wii with a universal. And you'll need a 3rd party converter/adapter for the PS3.
