hi,
I own a HDC-SD9 camcorder from Panasonic. I've made some clips and now wish to make a DVD of them. I've been trying to use the "HD-Writer" software that comes with it and it burns the dvd's "succesfully", but it doesn't playback in any of the dvd players i've tried. Just gets "no disc" or "bad disc" error. When I copy the the DVD to the computer and explore it, it gives a weird structured DVD with the main files being in the *.mts format.

If anyone here has a HDC-SDx and has made a video DVD from the files, or succesfsully used HD-Writer, or knows a good way to turn mts files into playable dvds...

Thanks!

It would appear the only players that plays the dvd's I create with HD-Writer is a blu-ray player. So obviously i'm writing something only HD players can read. So my next question is how do I set my HDC-SD9 to record in something I can play with my DVD player? I can only choose between "ha1920/hg1920/hx1920/he1440". Making a file in HE1440 and writing it -- same thing happened, doesn't play in DVD players. Please help!
Thanks

Wait, isn't there a way to make regular DVD's from the HDC-SD9, can I only play it from DVD players that support AVCHD ???? Please say it ain't so.

Appears the dvd players can't decode the format. Thus you'd have to re-encode into something the dvd player can decode.
I haven't done any HD editing (still waiting on camera & new pc), so I can't recommend anything further.
