I’m currently using a Prismasonic 1400 with the FE (front element) upgrade. I have an RS 20 on preorder. It’s difficult to tell by the pictures of the RS 20 whether this particular lens will work or not. I can’t tell how far the projector lens is recessed or how large it is. The Prismasonic 1400’s projector side body opening is 3.5” H / 3.25” W with the first element being close to one half inch smaller in both directions than the lens body.

If it matters, my throw distance is 12’ and my screen is 96” wide.

I realize I’m asking a question that may be impossible to answer at this point, but was hoping someone might know so that I can make plans to budget for, and purchase a different lens or not.

I was told that the Prismasonic lens have not been tried as of yet. I have the HD-5000 which may be similar in dimension to the 1500. I asked Jason to check when the RS-10 or 20 come in and he said he would try if he had time and a lens is available.

I don't have any concrete evidence, but I'd bet no. 12' throw on a 8' wide screen 1.5x...too short for the Prismasonic alone. If the 96" is the 2.35:1 width, then the equivalent 16:9 is ~72" wide, thus a 2x throw. This MAY work, but again, the 1400 has a very small aperature so combined with the slightly recessed JVC lens, it may be an issue.

Ya, that's what I was thinking too Jason......

I reckon you better add a lens to my order. My 1400 is silver anyway, and that just won't do with a new shiny black projector!

When you are ready for the projector let me know and we can discuss lens options.
