Looking for a 5.0 system to be paired with an eD A2-300 sub and an Onkyo SR806 receiver in a 15x12 loft area. I was close to pulling the trigger on the SVS SCS 5.0 system but ran across some posts saying it is not well suited for music use... So I am back to looking...

A lot folks are extolling the Polks and Behringer TRUTH speakers. While I haven't heard these, I'd certainly give them a listen. The SVS, however, is a different story. While you may have read that they are not 'well suited for music' (I think they are fine for music) they are great speakers. This may be true if you are a discerning, critical listener, but if you are only guesstimating 20% music duty, I would go with the SVS and enjoy.

You certainly won't find a consensus. You might find 2-3-4 guys who are more pushy than others though.

And watch for deals on A5, Rti8 fronts and A4/A6 or the Csi centers.

I agree with jnick. Just back off my CSi A6! ;)

To add more to your problem, have you taken a look at the AV123 ELT525 package going for $800? It's a 5.0 without sub. Not a bad price considering that the Towers alone is sold for $700.
