Hello all, have a 5.1 system consisting of a Pioneer VSX-918v receiver and old Pioneer HTiB speakers and a sony 10in. sub. Well, I saw a Polk CSR center on sale at hhgregg so I bought it. I orginally had planned to go Klipsch because I do own a pair of B-2s that I'm not currently using, this pushed me in another and cheaper direction. I liked the sound of the CSR so I decided to go all Polk Audio. I will be buying the monitor 30s sometime in the future for surround duty.
After buying the Polk center I decided to research Polk floorstanders. I saw Monitor 50s at newegg for under $100 shipped and I bought 2 of them for main duty. Question is, will the CSR play nice with the M50s? On Polk's site it said that the recommended center is the CSi1 or CS1..something like that. Thanks in advance.

For the Monitor 50 fronts you want CS1 (or the newer CS10), or CS2 (CS20) if you have room for a larger speaker. CSR is not a good center speaker and is from the line that is one step below Monitor.
If that combination works out for you - great.
Stay away from the CSR...infact get a csi3 or a4 for better detail and sound...YOU will HEar the difference!

I am sorry, but that's not a very good advice considering he already CSR and Monitor50's. Yes, CSi3 (I own that and CSi5) and A4 are another step up, but also a different series than Monitor.

Thanks, yes the purchase of the CSR made me seek out Polk R50s, but I couldn't find them anywhere for a reasonable price. I found the monitors by accident and I liked the stats and look, they are a blind or (deaf) buy since I didn't get a chance to listen to them first, but I think that they are going to be worth under $200 shipped for both as they are a vast improvement over the dinky HTiB mains that I have now. Guess I'll just have to hope that the MCACC can make them play nice.
You'll be fine. The CS1 or CS2 are better speakers but its not going to take away from your enjoyment of TV and Movies, especially after coming from a HTIB system.

I agree, should be fine.
