we just installed a new home thearter system, and I know nothing about it...
we have a transmitter problem where when we point the remotes at the tv they do not send the rf to the receivers in the clost,

when I go to the closet and face the unit, they work....

should I power everything down and then back again?

we have used a company to set this up and paid 2k and not happy
with the customer not happy....

any one got any ideas on what I should do?

what receivers are you talking about? are these directv? if so, make sure that the remotes are programmed for RF. To do this you go into the setup menu on each receiver and go to the remote section. if its set for I/R, change it to RF and the on screen instructions are pretty self explanitory. you also need to make sure that you have RF style remotes, which will have a backlight button on the right hand edge of the remote. the model number of the RF remotes are on the upper left hand corner and should read RC64RB.

If its a dish network system, the programming is different. I believe its section 9 of the manual. I dont do enough of these systems to remember off the top of my head though :(

You shouldn't have to point an RF remote. What remote(s) are you using? Sort of hard to help with so little description of your devices.

I will add that the installer should have tested everything before they left and showed you how to operate your new theater.
