To anyone who can help --

My Ruby pj began giving the lamp replacement message, and to make the msg go away I "tricked" the unit into thinking the lamp had been replaced, and put an additional 170 hours on the original lamp. I recently installed a new lamp, but am unable to reset the lamp timer to zero. I have followed the instructions carefully (making sure the unit gets unplugged and goes into standby mode when plugged back in before doing the remote key sequence), but still the timer reads 170+ hours. How can I reset it. Is there a way to reset it in factory mode? tia

I seem to remember vaguely that one has to open/close the lamp compartment within a specific period of time in order to allow the lamp reset software command to work.

bump -

I tried powering down, unplugging, opening cover, closing up, plugging in, doing the remote code, still didn't reset. Still looking for a solution.

I dug up an old post from Alan Gouger:
"one important part of the process is missing in the notes for the lamp reset, the projector must be in standby mode. Im sorry :o

Hope this helps.

Did you try this?

"Connect the power cord and set the projector to standby mode. Confirm that the ON/STANDBY indicator is lit in red."

Then quickly do the "Reset, Left, Right, Enter" thingy once you plug into the Ruby. I believe you have up to 5 seconds total to do it. It is not the less than 5 seconds each for "Reset, Left, Right, Enter" written in the manual.

I did not try this yet coz bulb still good. Worth a try good luck. :D

Thanks Philip, I am very grateful to this forum, again. Re-cycling power, checking the standby light was red, and hitting the reset < > enter keys within 5 seconds did it for me.

whiskersland, what was your timer value at when you did the reset? I tried the above method and still was unable to reset the timer.

I am having the same problem and all the fixes above do not work. I called sony and they recommend packing it up and shipping it out to their service center. Does anyone have any other troubleshooting ideas.

Are you guys trying to reset he timer when it says to replace the bulb? Maybe you can't reset the time outside of that window. Not sure. I ignored the replace lamp warning 850 hours ago and eventually it went away. If it comes up again at 2000, maybe I'll replace it. Where is everyone getting their bulbs from... the e-bay page?

I tried to install my bulb at 2350 hours. This was before the change bulb warning which is supposed to come on at 2450, i believe. Over 2500 hours, if you are not able to reset it, than the projector automatically shuts down. This is the point i am at and the reset sequence does not work.
