this one is for you experts out there....

i have a harmony 890 that was set up for me to run my av system.. it has worked great since 2006.. no problems at all with anything.

system is.. denon 2807, direct tv hr20-700, samsung upconvert dvd player, sony A2000 Tv....

I am thinking about pruchasing a BDP-s550 (blu-ray).. i dont know if i am confident in deleting the samsung and adding the blu-ray, i also want to get a new direct tv box thinking of the hr-22...

is there a way to save my settings for my current set-up of my harmony 890 on the harmony website, so if i mess up trying to add devices and delete devices to the activities, i could revert back to my old settings..

any advice on how to add these devises to my current activities to make it run smooth.. i am just nervouse to mess anything up, because it works so well now.

but in the same breath, i want some new equipment

thanks in advance...

What you can do is add the new devices and create new activities while keeping the old ones. That way you are "saving" the old while adding the new. If the new doesn't work out then you can delete them and the old will still be in place. Once everything works you can delete the old devices and activities.

I'm wondering if you even have access to your current remote's account. You can't just create a clean account and have all your setting ported over. You'll need the original account if you want to do what you say.

That said, I'd jump in and learn how to program the thing from scratch. It isn't that difficult and you may be able to fix any issues or annoyances that you've had for the past couple years. I couldn't imagine living with a remote configured by someone else...

hey thanks, i already set up an account, and reviewed the stuff online.. i did have my remote set up by magnolia, but it was not exactly what i wanted, so i got on the phone with a guy harmony to help me tweak some stuff.. he had a hard time with me so they sent me to the 2nd tier guy, who helped me with all my input switching issues and now it is just what i wanted, but i need to upgrade a little and so , i wil give it a try myself..

thanks for the help.;/

You can set up another account and have Harmony tech support copy over your existing setup. Then practice on one of them and you will have the other for a backup.
